Guest Col city fan Posted 7 January 2016 Posted 7 January 2016 Play off defeat to Swindon was incredibly painful. However seeing their pathetic season in the Prem and subsequent decline certainly helped the pain a little.... This...the only time I've ever cried at a football match.
ParkerPen Posted 7 January 2016 Posted 7 January 2016 Definitely Shearer. I've never seen an entire stadium as angry as that (bar the away fans of course). I agree, I've never felt the whole stadium have such anger, it was the fact it went on for the whole of the rest of the match as well not just a few minutes England captain - couldn't be seen to punish him, Shearer was getting wound up having no change off our defence that night he was like a coiled up spring ready to go. The Athletico nonsense, Martin O'Neill did a fantastic press conference after this clearly still raging. " these are not home side penalties, the whole game is fudged " - got it right Martin. and of course Dennis ****ing Wise, boss eyed little bastard
TJB-fox Posted 7 January 2016 Posted 7 January 2016 Some people have such stupid opinions about the Kermo penalty, it's almost like some fans think he deliberately missed just to spite them. In reality, there was no difference between his and Waghorns penalties, they both missed. If that's how he felt most comfortable taking it, then that's how he should've taken it. Although, it is ridiculously annoying seeing him bang in penalties for Charlton and Bournemouth over the years with no chip in sight.
whetstonefox Posted 7 January 2016 Posted 7 January 2016 Swapping Jim Melrose for Tommy English didn't go down to well I recall in 1982.
KP Fox Posted 7 January 2016 Posted 7 January 2016 Selling Lineker to Everton for £900,000. An England player with a proven goal scoring record both at top tier and international level and we couldn't even get a million for him. What an outrage!

O'Neill basically accused the ref of cheating inferring bungs and all sorts. UEFA charged him and then let him off without any punishment after the hearing and I'm sure the ref never officiated another European match after.

Kermorgant took it arrogantly and in a cocky way which he wasn't ever good enough to do. Was almost a joke like a sign of disrespect towards the Playoffs. Waghorn took his properly and missed. Was a poor pen but certainly not unforgivable. Kermorgant was shit, offered very little anyway and was rightly moved on. The fact that so many people mention it and neutrals and pundits also suggests it really was outrageous at the time.
crisp packet Posted 7 January 2016 Posted 7 January 2016 Wycombe f.a cup. I Wanted them out the hat ? got them home tie f.a cup quarter final . We was flying high in the league just beaten Liverpool at home .Fcuking Disney couldn't write the rest ............ (The writing was on the wall)
Dan Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 That the one where Kasper got two yellows for absolutely nothing surrounding a soft penalty? Worst refereeing performance I've ever seen. That's the one. Forest were absolutely abject that day, we should've seen it out with no trouble at all. Knew the second they got that penalty that they'd equalise at the end. Just felt like such an injustice, baring in mind this was during the point we'd not won there in about 40 years too. I lost it at the Bristol City game just before it as well. Just knew full well after that game we'd completely pissed away millions and that we'd made a mess. I know it was early but we were lucky to only lose 1-2 to a side who had started abysmally. Tottenham's penalty last season as well is up there. That angered me even more than the Liverpool ones. For all the Liverpool ones were bad, I can sort of see why he's made the mistake, although his arrogance is embarrassing. Tottenham though, two down, came back from it and were absolutely battering them, they get an absolute non-penalty which was without a doubt down to the ref bottling it in front of a home crowd (proven by the long delay). Absolutely disgraceful decision and summed up everything I despise about the state of refereeing in this country. That game really did convince me something dodgy was going on. I'm not having it that you can be that unlucky that often with decisions. Even if it's not necessarily corruption it's bias at the absolute least.
Dan Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Just watched the Atletico highlights. 100% fixed. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

He had a track record of scoring penalties in that fashion as far as I'm aware. It was an absolutely piss poor penalty but he didn't try to miss.
The other Ollie Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Steve Lynex and Alan Young having to be goalkeepers after Mark Wallington's injury in 1982. Youngy looked good in goal until someone knocked him out.
One Half Wonder Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 This is a great thread. It feels like ages since we've had anything to moan about I really miss the moaning, might go and follow Villa for a bit TOP 5 - Erland Johnson dive - Alan Shearer booting Neil Lennon in the face and getting away with it - Dennis 'the pr1ck' Wise punching Callum Davidson in the face whilst asleep - David Speedie dive (my first outrageous moment as a fan) - Gary Parker sending off for encroaching a free kick against Athletico Madrid
CosbehFox Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 That Forest game made me raging too. A mention for the time Michael Brown waltzed through our team like Messi making it Pompey 6 Leicester 1 at the dump Fratton Park
Leicester_Numan Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 He took us from bottom to play-off hopefuls, you'd have to have had an agenda to hate him after his first season. Or dislike the use of so many players on loan which we were probably paying the full wages for. One or two loan players is fine but achieving something with half a team that doesn't belong to us, that weren't here to cover an injury crisis feels like cheating to me and isn't something I ever want to see at this club again.
Karljohn Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Elvis Hammond coming on as sub, we were losing and had a throw deep into the opposition half. He jogged on like he had already played the first 80 mins and stood hands by side with gloves on, not looking for the ball or moving an inch. It was enough for me to launch a verbal volley his way and I'll never forget his sheer lack of interest.
Footballwipe Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 I can remember the press conference. O'Neill basically accused the ref of cheating inferring bungs and all sorts. It was a game I felt that we couldn't win."

Kermorgant was shit, offered very little anyway and was rightly moved on. The fact that so many people mention it and neutrals and pundits also suggests it really was outrageous at the time. What do you mean he wasn't good enough? He had been scoring penalties all his career, chips and no chips. And saying he was disrespectful by chipping it just shows you're problem stands rather with kermogrant rather than the situation itself. If he was a tough tackling, English centre mid who runs about a lot would you be saying he showed disrespect? I don't think you would. Pirlo chipped Hart in the Euros (although yes I know he scored) is that showing disrespect?Don't get me wrong I completely see why you regard it as an outrage because at the end of the day, he did massively cock up. But, sometimes I think the Kermogrant-witch hunt is more of a personal hunt than it should really be. I'm sure if he could go back he wouldn't chip it
desertfox2 Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Got to admit this is how I feel. He had a track record of scoring penalties in that fashion as far as I'm aware. It was an absolutely piss poor penalty but he didn't try to miss. He had a track record of taking them like that which is why it was so stupid as the keeper knew he was going to do it from watching how he took penalties. The chip penalty down the middle is something you can do once maybe twice in a career as anymore than that any keeper worth his salt is going to expect it.
Jon the Hat Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Alan Shearer booting Neil Lennon in the face. Classed as the saviour of the English national team at the time so nothing was done about it. That and Garry Parker being sent off for taking a free kick too early. Joke decisions. God yes. I don't get to games really these days, but I was there for both of those, about 8 rows back in the Carling stand from Shearer and Lennon, couldn't believe my eyes. Still feel robbed by the Athletico result.

He was most comfortable taking like it wasn't an important penalty then? Absolutely laughable that people still argue that he took it that way because he actually thought it was his best chance of scoring Your last sentence sums it up. He hasn't chipped one since, he was just being a cocky bastard and cared not for anyone else. The worst part was when he said he couldn't understand why people were angry.

Of course it's disrespect, why else would you take it like that? What's him not being an English centre mid got to do with anything?!
Fox1968 Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Bill Anderson using the Mercury to criticise the fans for chanting for David Pleat's sacking after months of the worst football ever produced by a Leicester team. The only time I've ever been wound up enough to write to the paper, and even then he had to have the last word by printing a reply to my letter.
