Saido Berahino

looks like he's going Southampton for 4 m!! Bargain!

Too right. That's an absolute steal. He's got a slightly dodgy injury record but for £4 million that's a no-brainer. To be fair we may have struggled to compete with Southampton on this one because he lives down that way and it's probably an ideal move for him.

I'd take Berahino to be honest as the boy has huge talent. He's made some mistakes and there maybe some question marks over his personality but then people might have said the same about Jamie Vardy if they'd judged him on his criminal record.

Whilst I agree that he undoubtedly has talent and can score goals, I don't think he'll see out his contract before having to retire. There has to be a very good reason why no other club has gone in for him, and I suspect his injuries give him very little time left. There are other associated issues too that joe public don't often consider such as whether insurance companies are prepared to pay out (I doubt this given his history), and whether or not it is ethically correct for him to continue playing due to the long term implications to his health. Time will tell I guess but I think he's just too far gone unfortunately.

I bet QPR are gutted they rejected our 12m bid.

I can imagine they are in hindsight. Think they rolled the dice hoping he'd propel them back to the PL which would've outweighed any potential fees they received but sadly for them the gamble hasn't paid off.

Back on topic, I think Berahino would be a good bit of business. Can't see the lads in the squad standing for any BS as they seems to self police. He's certainly a talented player and if we could get him to buy into the work rate ethos of chasing down every ball is a ready made replacement for Vardy. I think Claudio appears to be looking to the future and building a very talented young group of players underneath our existing first team and Beharino despite his perceived attitude issues fits that mould.

You sure it wasn't the player?

Austin was always going to Southampton this Window.  He flagged up he wanted a move there back in the summer, but Saints wouldn't stump up the cash.  Obviously we came close to figure they were looking for, but he didn't want a move to the Midlands - he said he would either go to the South Coast or stay in London.

The cheap sale of Austin might persuade WBA to sell Berahino for a realistic price-only 18 months left on contract. No idea what price, though-15M?

If it was a choice between Berihino and Austin who would everyone want?

Berahino, no shadow of a doubt. Anyone who says otherwise needs their heads testing.

People keep going on about Austin scoring however many goals in a shit QPR side but that QPR side had problems defending, not attacking.

Berahino scored 20 goals in 45 games for a Tony Pulis side. That's ridiculously good going. Not to mention that Berahino is a far better player technically, is younger and is far more suited to our style of football.

What has made you form this opinion of the lad?

I can only assume you read The Sun or The Mirror.

I'm warming to this signing if it happens. His goal record ain't bad at all.

In warming to it as wel.

Only thing that worries me will he throw a paddy if he's not playing every game?

On today's display, he would offer us quite a lot. Our current striking options are shite.

Watching the past few games makes me realise even more, if needed, that we require another top goal scorer. If we can get this lad playing, he's a top goal scorer. Much rather him than Austin.

I suspect there is a big difference not playing every week for a top four side and WBA

I'm sure he would be more than happy to come here and share the workload with JV and shinji

He is a decent finisher, young, English and a world better than what we have outside of SO and JV.

Imagine being able to rest vardy for a couple weeks. How good would that be?

If there is a chance of doing this then UK should be done. He is proven at PL level and if things don't work out, we should be able to turn our money around on him.

Wow !

How things have changed , the torrent of negativity about this transfer was embarrassing at one stage !

Glad to see people have wised up !

This would be a fantastic buy !

i have always rated the lad he is a great finisher look at him here mostly at 1:02 and 2:39 .

but he will not come here he seems like a player who would want to move to London , my money is on him going Spurs .

Don't assume anything about me ..you don't know me..I actually do know some Albion fans and I listen to WM /black country radio. he was helped by WBA to get to the level he is now, he was under contract and when he didn't get the move he wanted,  when he wanted, he spat the dummy and was unprofessional.. that puts his character into play..no reason to believe he would not do the same to us when it suited.. contract or not.. that attitude don't fit our template.
