goose2010 Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Igahlo would be sensational with Vardy Unfortunately it is never going to happen, we will struggle to get ANY striker that is scoring in the prem.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Unfortunately it is never going to happen, we will struggle to get ANY striker that is scoring in the prem. This. I don't get why people think we can just go down the shops wave some money around and come back with a 20 goal a season striker. Either we'll be make do with what we've got and give Dodoo a run when we're desperate, or Walshy will pluck another unknown out of some lower foreign league. When was the last time we signed a high profile player from an English league that everyone was gushing over? It most probably isn't going to happen with our set up.

If we are top this time next season or the season after then yeah it might be a possibility. But currently its not we have enough for this season, we have already hit our target any position we finish now is a bonus.
49er Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Gomis for me. Is really mobile for a big lad. Did anyone see the chance he created for himself last night against Watford - cut inside, rasping left shot against the post. I think Swansea are keen to get rid. How about a swap deal with Ulloa going to South Wales and £3m?

How about a swap deal with Ulloa going to South Wales and £3m? Okazaki has scored same number of goals as Gomis with half the starts. We are obviously better than Swansea so he might thrive here. If we had Mitrovic or Perez alongside Vardy we could succeed. I like the look of both of them individually. When Afobe is going for the money he is going for you know we will have to pay over the odds for a striker in this country.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Okazaki is starting to prove that he may actually be good enough, at least as a back up if not as a starter. We do need someone to replace Ulloa though. This. Ulloa is proving to be the donkey I thought he was when we signed him. He's got no strength, pace or stamina. First touch often poor, will only jump for 3 in 10 balls near him, always waits for the ball to come to him rather than he to it, and worst of all his shooting for the last twelve months has been dire. We are looking to cement a Champoins League place, with someone more suited to the Championship. I find it difficult to understand from what we've seen of Ulloa how he can be a better option than Krama. How bad must he be? Ffs get a good goalscorer / forward player with some quality. £20m should be spent if necessary - it's a once in a lifetime (so far) opportunity that should be grasped with both hands. All this slowly slowly was fine before but things have moved on and we need to rise to the challenge.
Koke Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Some Championship team or newly promoted side will offer £6m for Ulloa in the summer and we should accept it. He's been good for us and his goals kept us up, but whilst others like Mahrez, Albrighton, Vardy, Morgan, Drinkwater, Kasper etc have improved Ulloa has not. He is still playing like a bottom 3 club player. I appreciate his last season but he's just become utterly useless for us now. The only thing we benefit from him is defending set pieces.

IF we manage to make it into Europe, I wouldn't mind Ulloa as our 5th striker. Someone to be on the bench now and again, who we can chuck on if we are desperate. Yeah he's played poorly for us, but as a squad player I can see his use. He's always smiling, seems very happy and would in general would just be good to have in the squad to keep the harmony going, if anything. If we sell Ulloa we will need 3 strikers by the start of next season, presuming Kramaric leaves aswell. That is a big ask, and all 3 probably wouldn't want to be 5th choice.

How about a swap deal with Ulloa going to South Wales and £3m? The Gomis who is on near 100k a week? No thanksI'd genuinely put a huge bid in for Mitrovic. The lad is special and is beginning to prove the damage he can do at Newcastle. I'd offer to save him from the Championship.
maddog Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Loic Remy on loan? Shane Long? 20 million bid for Ighalo? The striker version of N'golo or Mahrez, banging them in at a great price? We need one to fire us to Champions League qualification or even the title. No pressure scouts/decision makers.
foxes161 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Why are people even suggesting Deeney? Is he for sale? Not a chance.
Detroit Blues Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 What do you guys think about playing mahrez up top with vardy or behind him in a 4-5-1? We have Gray, Dyer and eventually schlupp to replace mahrez on the wing.
FireFox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Mahrez hasn't done well "in the hole" with one striker. In the 3-4-1-2 he did well but Claudio's not going back to that. He doesn't make the runs or have the aerial strength to play with Vardy up top.

Only way Mahrez works in the hole other then 3-4-1-2, is if we try 4-3-1-2, which was one of Ranieri's favoured formations at his old clubs. A lot of change though might not be a good idea...

Guest Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 14 posts for the OP, I find it hard to believe they've been saying anything enough to ask any question that starts with 'How many more times do I need to say....?'
weller54 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 It's sticking out like Rachel's nipples on a frosty day... WE NEED A QUALITY STRIKER IN DURING THIS WINDOW.. Or there's no top 4 finish!
les-tah Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 To be honest a new striker that is class could/would be the difference to maintaining that top 4 place.. there is no way the club havent realised this and im sure we are going to buy one.
goose2010 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 everyone keeps saying we need one but no one has given a decent example that would sign for us.
Gerard Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 What do you guys think about playing mahrez up top with vardy or behind him in a 4-5-1? We have Gray, Dyer and eventually schlupp to replace mahrez on the wing. Mahrez has scored and assisted a ridiculous amount of goals from right midfield. Keep him there, if it ain't broke don''t fix it.
Gerard Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 As for the striker I never thought I'd say this but I'm happy to wait until the summer rather than get the best of a bad bunch in January. Either get someone we really want or don't bother in the next fortnight. We may only have 17 games left this season so hopefully Vardy won't get an injury.
Koke Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 everyone keeps saying we need one but no one has given a decent example that would sign for us. It's hard I agree. Mitrovic looks good. Big, mobile and talented. Newcastle obviously won't sell, but someone of his ilk would be great. A lot of clubs are looking for a striker. Palace got 3 strikers who have scored 1 penalty between them this season.

Either get someone we really want or don't bother in the next fortnight. We may only have 17 games left this season so hopefully Vardy won't get an injury. Thank God for some sanity. I would love to see a good quality number 10 come in if we can find one that Walsh thinks will do the job. But we're joint top, and we've got there while playing Ulloa, Mahrez or Shinji behind Vardy. Yeah, we could probably do with strengthening, but the knee-jerkery is ridiculous-it's not like there are 19 year old David Silvas hiding in every clubhouse. Vardy's been injured, and we've missed sitters and pens-otherwise we'd be over the hills and far away, bad performances vs Villa and Bournemouth notwithstanding... When we find one that suits us, we'll buy. Last season, we knee-jerked Kram into the squad, and our hot streak coincided with dropping him, and reverting to the Nugent who wasn't good enough for this league and the Vardy we wanted to drive to West Brom.
