Bob Weasel Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We do need a quality striker. We will never get this kind of opportunity again and so need to grab it with both hands. A quality striker would help immensely.Indeed we do
Countryfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Has the Amarty thread been moved? I don't start many threads in the football section and I could not see a similar thread. Normally there is about 2 or 3 on each speculation. I hope you are right Rince cus I've told everyone on the beach that he's as good as in the bag .....
Wymsey Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We need a target man - we've got one in Ulloa, but prefer one that's both strong in the foot as well as head.
AKCJ Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Must be the only one who thought our strikers played well but were completely let down by Albrighton (who only wanted to shoot every time he got the ball) and Mahrez (who only wanted to be back at home in bed). Thought Vardy looked more like his pre-Christmas self. Looked especially sharp on 3 occasions. The goal, Bunn's booking and Drinkwater's sitter.
MGLCFC Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Think we need 2 strikers, shift Ulloa on. Think QPR will need a couple of strikers.
Thracian Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 For weeks I've been saying Ulloah and Okazaki are just not premiership quality. We hoof the ball up to these players and I reckon they only win the header 10% of the time. Neither hold the ball up well and lack physicality. How many times have you seen them fall over or fall on their arses ? Vardy is definitely showing signs of burning out.....his tenacity has dropped and his goals have dried up. He seriously needs help. Austin for £4m is absolute steal and how we didn't go back for him after offering £12m 6months ago is just so confusing. We have a £10m striker at the club that can't make the match say squad so what on earth are we going to do. For me we should go all out to sign Shane Long and Troy Deaney. Vardy might be running on empty but our first goal was virtually all down to him - and for all that he was patchy he still posed a danger at times which was quite remarkable given his almost total lack of proper support.
ronnup Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 If not for a brilliant save Vardy scores a worldy
fuchsntf Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Why are you laughing? It's a perfect suggestion... Similar to Austin (who would have been my preferred choice), Deeney has the same work ethic as our squad and works hard. I don't get why people are sarcastically posting, this thread is valid. It doesn't take a genius to realise we need another striker. Nobody else carries the same threat as Vardy who can be off form or injured at any time of the season. The same people won't be laughing then. I like Okazaki, constantly defended him on here and at games this season, but he isn't a clinical forward. He links the midfield - forward line superbly and will work hard all game, but doesn't seem the type to get us double figure. I love Okazaki behind Vardy, but when Vardy is out we haven't a direct replacement. Again, I like Ulloa but he seems to slow for our style of play this season and I haven't seen enough of Kramaric to suggest he's any better. And obviously Renieri doesn't rate Kramaric either. I see where your coming from, basically I dont disgree, except on one point. You have stated like many that Ulloa is too slow, sorry but its simply not true. Every time hes played, hes been where he should be, his positioning has always been around or inside the penalty area, he laid off some great balls, hes had some great chances. Hes just not been crisp or clinical enough, and has blown some great opportunities.Hes been in the mix, but is failing to take advantage of those opportunities. He is the type of alternative player we need, we need the form of last season to return, because he is struggling, but not because he is slow.
FoxFossil Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Slupp?.Manure thought he could be converted into a striker.Might be worth a punt just to confuse the opposition.Should be back soon?
HighPeakFox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 In the meantime..........if CR is going to be this defensive, would it make more sense to go 541 (or the late lamented 352), thus utilising the part of our squad where we have better options?
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Why are people even suggesting Deeney? Is he for sale?
foxes21 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Said it on the January wish list thread, I wouldn't mind Kevin Volland. Great work rate, fast, big and powerful, he's built for the premiership. Similar player to Troy Deeney but alot younger. Volland would be perfect behind Vardy or Okakazi. Doubt we would be able to get him now, but in the Summer it would be a great signing.

According to the Evening Standard we made a bid on Friday-he turned us down.OMG you are right, we are doomed. League 1 in three years.
enmac Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 It's really not likely is it? . We could be competitive in the top 6 again but to be 7 points clear of 5th with 16 games to go - can't see that happening again if we don't qualify this time around.Agree- spend whatever it takes. Haven't got time to wait another 50 years!
suffolk fox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 According to tonights evening Standard Austin turned us down for Southampton.
FOXES-BROWNBOY Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I would agree, another striker is needed but i have to confess after slating Okazaki for a while , he has been one of our better players in the last few matches and maybe he is showing his quality now
FireFox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 According to tonights evening Standard Austin turned us down for Southampton. We probably turned him down because of his wage demands.
HighPeakFox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 The Standard is more right wing bog paper, so should be treated with the disdain of any other tabloid.
Raw Dykes Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I would agree, another striker is needed but i have to confess after slating Okazaki for a while , he has been one of our better players in the last few matches and maybe he is showing his quality now I agree. I was convinced he was signed solely as a marketing tool, but recently he does look a lot better than he has been. Still, i think we are going to need more than just 2 decent strikers. Ideally, we'd get an upgrade on Ulloa and Kramaric, but I can't see that happening in this window. Hopefully, Ulloa will soon look more like the player he was last year and we'll get a replacement for Kram when he leaves.
Raw Dykes Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 We probably turned him down because of his wage demands. Maybe. I think it was more that he didn't want to move away from London/the south coast.

So let me understand what your saying, you have been saying for weeks now, what we really want, what wereally, really want, is what you really, really want. Now I get it, I understand now..!!! You should now go out and find yourself a nice girl, who can stroke your hair and sooth you, when these panic attacks happen again... Believe me it works, and she will, if your nice ,really, really give you what you want, even more, you'll get not just what you want but what you really really need...
Koke Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 Seems like a lot teams in the league are screaming out for a new striker. Us Spurs Villa Palace Swansea Liverpool Newcastle West Brom Norwich All those clubs fans are crying out for their board to sign a striker.
Leicester_Numan Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 For weeks I've been saying Ulloah and Okazaki are just not premiership quality. Vardy has been injured, has hardly trained for over a month and has just had an op, give the guy a break, he'll be back to his tenacious best soon enough. As for Austin, he expressed a wish to move to the south coast so it was either Southampton or Bournemouth, us bidding for him again would have made no difference whatsoever.
Fox92 Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Why are people even suggesting Deeney? Is he for sale? Suggesting him because he'd fit our style superbly. He's not for sale and not likely to be either. Rejected Palace to stay at Watford last year, before signing a new contract.

I lost interest when you said we play hoof ball and then you want Shane Long to hold the ball up. Why do people keep talking about Troy Deaney? why would he leave Watford to join us? he is absolutely loved at Watford and is probably being payed the same as what we would offer. Like others have said a lot of teams are looking for a striker its probably the hardest posisition to fill as if you don't score in the first couple of weeks people start asking questions. We aren't going to spend money we haven't budgeted for this season unless we see a bargain (like Austin) but then if there is a bargain about bigger more established teams that need a striker will snap them up (like Southampton) Personally I would stick with what we have upfront Okazaki is starting to bed himself in and Vardy is getting back to full fitness.
