FootMercato this morning reported that the Foxes have submitted a bid for the Bordeaux ace. Chantôme has only 5 months remaining on his current deal, and City are hoping that this is enough to secure a cut-price deal for the one time France international. Ranieri is said to be a big fan of the midfielder, and tried to sign the 28-year old during his time at Monaco. Anderlecht are said to be monitoring the situation.

It is believed that the Foxes made a bid to sign the midfielder towards the end of the transfer window, but Bordeaux refused to sell. However, with his deal at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux due to expire at the end of the season, the 28-year-old is now permitted to sign a pre-contract with another club. According to L'Equipe, one of the teams that are keen to take advantage of that fact are the Premier League leaders. Chantome joined his current employers from Paris Saint-Germain 12 months ago.
