Wrigglesworth will be bigger loss than people think.

No loss at all just a number cruncher. Steve Walsh is the man.

I'd say that the local scouts are far more important.

It's not necessarily that simple, though. There was an interview with the guy who was in charge of it before him, who mentioned that on the surface level of looking at the stats, Wasilewski was terrible in Belgium and hardly made any tackles or interceptions, but when they looked into it more closely it was that he was marking players out of the game so well nobody ever even tried to pass to them. That's the kind of thing that if you just get some random football manager player doing the job, they might miss.

Obviously not trying to completely shit all over someones profession... I just think its a sign of the modern way of doing things that someone like Ben can get credit and be poached and be in the press for doing something with stats, at the end of the day You or Me could have told the club that if we'd watched Was 5 or 6 times.

When we played at the Emirates last season Wenger was interviewed after the game, amongst a lot of sincere praise he said words to the effect of "I don't know how they found him (Mahrez)" whilst displaying an angry scowl and if you listen carefully I swear there were gunshots in the background as their scouting team were lined up against a wall. The next morning he must have asked some questions and banged some heads together.

As others say he should look more at the Injury prevention and treatment side of things but dare I say Kante is a player that would have solved a big problem area for them (the "Flamini running around grabbing shirts and giving away free kicks whilst Wilshire has more time off" shaped problem).

I'm not sticking my oar in either way, just find it a bit odd how passionately everyone in this thread seems to be about dismissing the importance of someone they know **** all about.

Usually important people are well known, as I hadn't heard of him until recently, I will just assume he was dog shit and carry on in blissful ignorance.

Arsenal will be getting an ice chamber next........... in fact it astounds me they haven't completely re-evaluated their sports science philosophy. It can't be a coincidence that every season they have the most horrendous injury list and even when they sign players who have never been injury prone before they become injury prone within a year of being there. It's unforgiveable.

Some Arsenal supporting friends of mine have been saying this for a while. They're training and squad management must be a bit iffy to say the least.

Just as long as none of our staff go to Spurs.

I fvcking hate Spurs.  Especially that smug fvckwit chromosome boy.  We don't want to see photos of you and your missus in Xmas jumpers on twitter.  She probably wouldn't give you the steam off her piss if you weren't a semi-famous pro footballer on loads of dough.

I hope Pochettino fvcks off in summer and leaves you in the lurch.

As you can tell I fvcking hate Spurs.  They are my new Coventry

I'm in no doubt the club have someone that knows how to scout a good data scout better than Arsenal

Always One step ahead of the game.

Besides there's a few on here that come up with data what not. Get your cv in lads. Continue to dream

Arsenal want to replicate our system am sure Ben will succeed in doing so. Arsenal will gain massively.

Leicester will simply loose a talented analyst that can be replaced - unless he has some kind of brilliant algorithm he hasn't used we won't loose our competitive advantage.

The system still requires the right guidance and the right people that make footballing judgements after statistical analyses presents the best options. At present we still have SW.

Liverpool use a similar system, as introduced by their American owner but again their transfer committee a seemingly clueless. Who knows how it'll shape out at arsenal but am fairly confident it's still business as usual for us.

I think Liverpools scouting will change massively in the summer

its obviously not working for them.  Klopp will want his own style in which isn't what they've got at the moment

Steve Walsh is the main man, we know this. But a lot of people are basically coming to the conclusion that as long as we keep him all is okay.

But the fact is that Wrigglesworth will have a huge list of players that we are scouting and are looking to sign in the upcoming seasons.

This is why he was placed on gardening leave and unable to join another club until after the January transfer window had ended.

We've known for sometime he will be joining arsenal, but it's only been made official now the transfer window has ended.

Arsenal probably can't persuade Walsh to join, but have got our 'head of technical scouting'. I wouldn't be surprised to see Arsenal sign a few of our targets in the upcoming windows.

I also imagine Wenger and there coaching team will be asking him about our players and any potential weaknesses ahead of this Sunday, huge loss in my opinion this is.

I can see next weeks headlines now...

'Surprised Leicester legend to head arsenal's scouting network!'

Wenger delighted to welcome former Leicester defender Steve Walsh to Arsenal saying, 'hez ad tremendous success in recruiting players for Leicester, we hope he can do the same here'

Meanwhile Walsh was just delighted to be back in football: 'I was losing my rag in the bunker on the 18th when I saw this bush moving and out popped someone in an arsenal shirt and they offered me the scouting job, I'd be mad to turn it down, I'm delighted to be back in footballh'.

Elsewhere Leicester have finalised personal terms with barcalona wonder kid Xavi Marriteo after agreeing a fee of £4.50.

seeing the potential and taking a "chance" on unknown players is all well and good but once they're signed it can take years of coaching/training/playing in the right environment etc.

could arsenal probably expect unknown talents to arrive and be top players overnight?

i say this a few times but its not like we picked up mahrez last summer and now he is the best in the league.

You never heard of Arsenal?

What we have been doing since Walsh arrived at the club, Wenger has done his whole arsenal career.

Henry, Viera, Overmars, Van persie etc.
