Captain... Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Post's like this and posts about the details of ongoing transfer deals are nothing but pure speculation no one knows what is going on behind closed doors at the club. He could be a huge loss he could be a massive bell end and its a relief for all the other scouts that he has gone no one knows for sure. We know that Walsh is the head of recruitment and this whole set-up was his baby, the rest are just drones, he's the queen bee. He sends them out to do his bidding and he just gets to roll around in honey all day.

AjcW Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 He used a ****ing computer to essentially do what Football Manager addicts do on a daily basis!!! The average Joe could walk in there and learn the ins and outs within a couple of months. Jesus these threads are getting annoying. Yes... he might have taken a list with him, but... we will still have exactly the same list which essentially makes it as competitive as any other transfer.. If Arsenal want the player they'll try and get him, if we want him too we will compete.
Callabinho Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 We will be fine, do you think the club would have allowed him to leave so easily if they weren't confident we could still scout players? It's not like he was a bloody player, his scouting methods will be well known to the lads already in place at the club, so I would envisage it to be business as usual....
GaelicFox Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 If that's the case then why did we not let him join arsenal until the transfer window ended? Because he had the data and probably had copies of it !

He was hired after he worked for a programming company He was a geek China has 600m of them !
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 He looks about twelve years old. I'm guessing he's a sports science graduate from Loughborough who watches games of players the actual scouts have found? I'm sure he's very good at his job but I highly doubt our scouting team is going to fall apart because we've lost a lad and his imac. Exactly this. It's a bit OTT that it's in all the press. The lad will be on a low wage and certainly won't be as missed as is being made out. As mentioned, i imagine the gardening leave was so that Arsenal couldn't get in touch with him regarding current targets we have now.
Haydos Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Why are you all so desperate to claim he's worthless, it's getting a bit weird.
dylanlegend Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 It's frickin freezing in here Mr Bigglesworth
dylanlegend Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 If it's that easy why aren't other teams doing it? Kante was statistically the BEST interceptor in the whole of Europe BEFORE we signed him? Wasn't this obvious to other teams? I just hope we keep the same philosophy and promote from within
The Doctor Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Same was said of mackenzie 12 months ago, but more than that arsenal are a cargo cult - they'll put the scout there but unless they change their recruitment policy then they'll continue to fail in the transfer market, as they have with every other scout they've appointed

If Arsenal want the player they'll try and get him, if we want him too we will compete. It's not necessarily that simple, though. There was an interview with the guy who was in charge of it before him, who mentioned that on the surface level of looking at the stats, Wasilewski was terrible in Belgium and hardly made any tackles or interceptions, but when they looked into it more closely it was that he was marking players out of the game so well nobody ever even tried to pass to them. That's the kind of thing that if you just get some random football manager player doing the job, they might miss.
Finnegan Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Why are you all so desperate to claim he's worthless, it's getting a bit weird. Why would anyone be desperate to claim he isn't? I'm sure we don't want to lose any staff but I don't think losing a backroom employee that looks fresh out of uni is going to derail our immediate future.

I'm not sticking my oar in either way, just find it a bit odd how passionately everyone in this thread seems to be about dismissing the importance of someone they know **** all about.
americanfox Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 It's a big loss, just like losing McKenzie was a big loss. Even if he's a "data analyst" (we've bantered at this at length in the past), you can't keep losing smart people and expect to keep the operation humming swimmingly.
MPH Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Well bugger me backwards. Doing way too well on the field so lets find another way in which we will fail and everything will go wrong
Countryfox Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Doesn't matter what we think of him Arsenal obviously thought he was good at what he did and targeted him. I just hope he isn't the first and that others may be tempted to follow.
Gubbins Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 He might be a huge loss, he might not. One thing I'm pretty sure of though is that losing him will have no impact whatsoever on the rest of this potentially momentous season. Right now that is all that matters.

Jimmy Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 he replaced a guy a few months ago that left to join Spurs, he wasn't as key as the OP seems to think
Babylon Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 he replaced a guy a few months ago that left to join Spurs, he wasn't as key as the OP seems to think He's just moved up the chain, as the person will do behind him, so long as the people at the top pass on their knowledge that's all that matters. The bloke has only been here what three years? We've been signing diamonds a lot longer than that... because we all know it's Steve Walsh who is the key.

I'd like to think Walsh has implemented a methodology and system of scouting that means when he leaves, the blue prints and fundamentals of the scouting are in place so that we can maintain our success rate with picking up players.
foxoffderby Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 No loss at all just a number cruncher. Steve Walsh is the man.

So you entered a thread which you don't have a view on to attack the people posting in it. That's strange behaviour.
