PaulW Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 We play in blue & white. (Almost) always have done. So why do we play in a bloody black kit when there is no colour clash?
Captain... Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 I was talking to an Arsenal fan before the game, not spoken to him since, he was saying that it is the same with them and it is part of the puma deal that you must wear an away kit for every away game, and it got me thinking how many times we have worn blue away this season? Can think of quite a few games where we have worn an away kit for no reason.
Harry - LCFC Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 I agree. It's pure greed from the marketing team, eeking out whatever minuscule profit they can from the few extra shirt sales they hope to encourage. I don't think it's too much to ask for fans to see their team play in their own colours wherever possible. That's how it's been in recent seasons after all.
Koke Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 We wore the black kit away to Swansea as well. No colour clash. Part of our sponsor deal I suppose.
goose2010 Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Surely because it is an AWAY shirt! good to see them in it if you ask me. Plus we won at Man City in it so might of been a good luck thing.

bluebeau Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 City have an all white kit which I believed to be our colour strip in the event of a colour clash? The black strip is pure greed on behalf of Puma to get the supporters to part with more of their hard earned Wonga! Greedy sods!
TheLeftSide Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Footballers are very superstitious and beating Man City in the black kit would have been the catalyst for wearing it again yesterday. Nothing to do with Puma and nothing to do with marketing, they don't get an an option to tell the team what to wear.
Number 6 Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 I realised this weekend how 3 new kits a season is just the norm and accepted. Sad state of affairs.
Brainy Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 White shorts clash Red and white clashes with blue and blue?
Nod.E Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Surely because it is an AWAY shirt! good to see them in it if you ask me. Plus we won at Man City in it so might of been a good luck thing. Bit of a leap. We also just lost to Arsenal in it.

How do you explain us wearing it at Swansea, as well as the numerous other examples of teams wearing their away kit when they don't need to? This would seem to fit into that pattern rather well.
ScouseFox Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Villa v Liverpool? think the bigger issue with his post is that we don't have white shorts
AyewJoking Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Give Puma a break, the shirts only have a one year cycle so they need to get as much use out of them as possible before they cash in again next summer.

This would seem to fit into that pattern rather well Again in Swansea's case it comes down very much to superstition, we got beat there last season in blue and players remember that kind of stuff especially as it was a real low point of the season. You could say the same away at Newcastle but we were unable to wear either away kit. It really does come down to the Manager and a couple of senior players when it comes to kit choice, marketing would not dare ask as if the team lost it would be their fault!

When I read this I get the impression I'm talking to someone who isn't being entirely serious. You'd have to be pretty silly to believe that wearing our away kit makes us play better. So how do you know the players think like that? Why did this not take place at all last season? Surely the best explanation is a change in a business decision, rather than a change in a superstitious belief? As I say, I'm not entirely sure you mean what you really say anyway, and if you do I suspect you're simply projecting your own beliefs onto the players.
Ashley Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 think the bigger issue with his post is that we don't have white shorts White kit. Blue kit also has a change to white if needed...
ScouseFox Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 White kit. Blue kit also has a change to white if needed... yeah but the thread says why didn't we wear our home kit at arsenal and the response was because the shorts would clash, which they wouldn't
Guy Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Glad I bought a black 2013-14 shirt for a bargain £10 in the sales when I did! Looks identical to now's too really!
TheLeftSide Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 I am entirely serious, I cannot really say why I am so sure but I know a lot on this particular subject. It's not about playing better it's about eliminating anything that may psychologically effect a game. Have you ever seen stories about players superstitions it's quite frightening! Best example I can think of is our FA Cup run a few years ago and that awful Fosse gold kit!
