foxfanazer Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 This isn't me tempting fate or anything so don't berate me. If ourselves, Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham all stood a chance of winning the league on the last game of the season, at which game would the trophy be before the matches kicked off and what happens if its not at the right one? I assume it goes to the game of the team that starts the day top of the league

They decide the most likely winner take the trophy to that ground, then the others get replicas I think.

I 'think' the PL have a number of replicas in case of such an event. My guess would be all replicas would be at the four games and then the 'real' trophy would be given afterwards to be paraded etc. But I could be making all this shit up
crazylegs1984 Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 we have chelsea away imagine scenes last years winners giving the trophy to us and that **** terry would still join us in his full leicester kit
foxfanazer Posted 21 February 2016 Author Posted 21 February 2016 They decide the most likely winner take the trophy to that ground, then the others get replicas I think. So definitely wouldn't be at Stamford Bridge for us then
Xen Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Think they'd have a replica at each in case, but the real one would probably be somewhere central with a helicopter so it could be transported to London/Newcastle/Swansea as appropriate. Pretty sure that's what happened when the two Manchester clubs were at the top a few years back. Ironically, the trophy will probably be closer to Leicester than the actual team will be on the day...

Danizen Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 I'd assume they'd use replicas for Spurs (away to Newcastle) and Man City (away to Swansea) but us and Arsenal are both playing in London so we might get treated to some helicopter drama!
foxfanazer Posted 21 February 2016 Author Posted 21 February 2016 I think Arsenal and Spurs are at home last game and we're in London so maybe it'll be in a helicopter ready to be flown to the winning team Edit: Spurs are away
johnny the fox Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Im hoping chelsea get to the fa cup final...its a week after our last game..

Maybe our owners could use their own helicopter to go and collect the trophy, then fly back and land on the Stamford Bridge centre circle, step out of the chopper holding the trophy and then go present it to Wes in front of the Blue Army away fans! I'll get my coat

Fox92 Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Going to be brilliant isn't it, when Chelsea 'accidentally' let us win to prevent Arsenal and Spurs winning the PL.
TiffToff88 Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 On a similar note, i was thinking about Richie De Laet the other day, and if We win the Premier League, and Middlesbrough win the Championship, would he become the first player to qualify for and win a Premier League and Championship medal in the same season?
Great Boos Up Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Probably be kept at the midway point between all clubs which would be approximately LE2 7FL.

TiffToff88 Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Surely the trophy will be at Stamford Bridge, its already got our name all over it
stripeyfox Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 On the subject of hypothetical questions, did you know that there is provision in the Premier League rules for a one off play off to take place in order to separate two teams finishing the season with identical records (WDL FA and Gdif)? I assume this would only take place to decide the title, euro qualification and relegation and presumably would be at Wembley. It hasn't happened so far but can you imagine such an occasion? I bet the PL would absolutely cream themselves if they had a title play off on their hands (not that I am saying it is any more likely this season than in any other) Here's the rule: 'If at the end of the Season either the League Champions or the Clubs to be relegated or the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined because 2 or more Clubs are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored, the Clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding League Matches on neutral grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the Board.'
chapero82 Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 We need to have it wrapped up before last game Arsenal have Villa
LanguedocFox Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 They would have replicas at each match. It happened most recently in 2013-14, when Man City led Liverpool by two points going into the final day. The one I particularly remember was 2011-12, when Man U were at Sunderland, and Man City hosted QPR. Man City won it on goal difference. It was a genuinely exciting last day: Man U thought they had won it, because they were 1-0 up at Sunderland when the whistle went there, but Man City came back from 2-1 down with two goals in stoppage time to win the game and the League. Oh, and Joey Barton got sent off for stamping Tevez. We weren't involved, of course, but I enjoyed Man City winning the league. Partly it was because our very own Roberto Mancini was managing City but mainly because United threw away an eight point lead in the last five matches (including losing to Man City). The look on Ferguson's face on that last afternoon is one that I will treasure in my memory forever.
fuchsntf Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Rachel will be holding it so close , there will be a mud fight trying to wrestle it from her... Now that is hypothetical.

The most dramatic finish since Michael Thomas scored in stoppage time at Anfield in 1989 to win the league for Arsenal. Although, as this occurred before 1992, it is therefore regarded as "pre history" as far as Sky/Premier League is concerned.
