Russell sprout Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Folks, could do with some help. Going to call sky later and either cancel or accept their generous offer of a substantial price reduction. I'm currently paying £105 a month for it. That's without films and without BT sport. It's £35 more than what I was paying 2 years ago. I'd really appreciate knowing roughly what others are paying as a reference. That can include other services. Basically all I want is footy. Thanks in advance...!!! I've just cancelled with sky,my last bill is £122, I've brought and had fitted a 'box' that has all the channels sky has, plus bt sport(champs league) Chelsea,Man U tv etc, plus box office( watched the Joshua fight last sat) all for £300 all in, No more sky bills, and every year it's £70 to renew

The only thing that put me off was its not in HD, you can't record or live pause. You're paying far too much to "renew" every year also.
Larry_LCFC Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Couldn't cope with Sky SD. The quality of it, particularly sky sports, is ****ing horrendous. Guess they do it deliberately to get people to pay for HD.
sdb Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Well I called up and the best they could do for me was drop it from £104 to £92. Considering I pay another £20 for BT I'd told them 'thanks but no thanks' and asked to cancel. Just waiting for that 'you can have everything for £50' call now...

If so give it a few days log into it and you should be offered 50% off to stay for another 12 months. Their first offer is always a waste of time. Stick it out for a few weeks and you'll get a good deal.

I know there are a few different makes out there but they all do the same thing. I have all those channels you have but only in SD can you get HD channels (not the free to air HD channels) on your box?
Strokes Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Its took me a month to google and setup but a line is a piece of code you upload to your box to descramble the sky signal there loads on Youtube about it my box is called a Zgemma have a google mate No offence pal but you are having your pants pulled down if you are paying £100 a year for a line, I pay £10 a year for mine.
True Blue Fox Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 A few mates i know have got one. The only thing that put me off was its not in HD, you can't record or live pause. You're paying far too much to "renew" every year also. Thats true but the quality is fine have a look at SD channels on sky, HD is by far better quality. You need a HDD to record and pause I added a 1TB HDD to the box to record.

Thanks for that no offence taken I thought that was a good price. Ill have to look around next year I've only just got it so at lot has been trial and now error. Thanks again

I'd like to think so for £104 a month!!

You're paying far too much to "renew" every year also. You can plug a memory stick into your TVs to record stuff, £70 to renew seems good to me, When I think I spend over a grand a year with sky, And that's without by sport, which il need for champs league away games that I don't go
El bastardo Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Get used to it, you can't have it all ways. You want to move on to the next step, this is what happens. You'll be playing even more Sunday games when you end up in the europa league

Vlad the Fox Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 We cancelled and switched to bt as they wouldn't cut us a deal. About a month later they rang trying to get us back offering deals which we declined. About every month since the deals have been getting better and better but each time we've declined however the last time they were seeing if they could buy us out of our bt contract, .

Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 Hey El Bàstard we're still waiting for you. You're going to get very old waiting for Spurs to win the league. Very old! I think they know that after last years capitulation they've missed their chance. Europa league position at best for them this year
ScouseFox Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 want to get some weekends booked off work, could sky hurry up and tell me which ones I need and which ones will be Monday nights thanks.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 July 2016 Posted 5 July 2016 I am having huge problems with Sky. I can only get a picture on it, when the weather is cloudless. It's been like this for a month now, and my Sky box has now sopped recording. My step daughter's Sky tv also is behaving like mine. Any ideas?

Is this some sort of pun about only being able to see the sky when there's no clouds?

If its HD then it could be one of the connection pins to the back of the box is either bent or come loose. This causes all sorts of disruption and recording issues. Problem is if your box isnt in its 12 month warranty sky will charge a call out fee.

You will lose all recordings though.
CosbehFox Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Taking the push again with announcing the TV fixtures. Three weeks tomorrow since the fixtures came out on five weeks notice. No one is telling me it's all to do with consultation to emergency services when they can change a fixture like Arsenal away last season on a complete different day with 17 days notice
Dan Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Taking the push again with announcing the TV fixtures. Three weeks tomorrow since the fixtures came out on five weeks notice. No one is telling me it's all to do with consultation to emergency services when they can change a fixture like Arsenal away last season on a complete different day with 17 days notice It's this that annoys me most with them. It's not even the fact they move games as such, see the post on page 1 from MattP where he rightly says they're exercising their right - it's the contempt shown for fans like this. Why couldn't they have announced them on the day the fixtures were out? Can't be hard can it? Train prices go up and no-one can do anything because they've still not made their minds up.
Corky Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 Yes, echo the previous sentiments, get a fvcking move on. It's not difficult, you know what the big matches are, when the European games are played, tell us when you want to shove the games to and allow us the chance to alter plans/ make allowances.

The top two Dutch division literally fix their dates when the fixtures are revealed - taking note of Europe, TV and police advice. France fix 15 games straight away for TV. Germany released their fixtures last week and look set to fix their TV selections this week. A turnaround of 7 days It's possible.
