Wouldn't be once in a blue moon for me though. It'd be every home match!

Your round trip on 270 miles on round trip with a half decent EV eg one with a 250 mile range will mean that you're going to charge for around 20 minutes (actually about 5-10 mins will do it) on the way to the game or on the way home while you go for a wee and grab a sandwich.  Will probably cost about £10 - £20 max. Your total journey will be about £22 max.

Oh yes, I remember.

I think I said you could solve this by simply not going to the games anymore, advice I stand by

If that is a 270 round trip then there are many EV's on the market now will do that with a breeze.  If you only had 200 miles (the vast majority will do that) to play with,  you could charge up on a destination charger for the time you are parked up for the game and add enough at a relatively cheap rate (£10 for about 100 miles).  Bestter still if you can find someone who would offer your home charger,  I would but I am some 13 miles from the ground. The other 170 miles would be costing you no more than £3.50.  So the whole journey for less than £15 about a third of the cost of your average petrol/diesal.  I agree though no good if you cannot charge at home.

Will an EV keep running beyond 0%, like is there a hidden safety net?

Only for a couple of miles (max of 10 I would guess), just like a petrol engine. However, it is never recommended as it will damage the battery.

Yes all of them have a redundancy built in. I think Teslas is about 6-7 miles.

I know when mine gets to ~15 miles it's goes into super eco mode.  Limits your speed to under 50, whacks climate control off etc. to give you a bit more.  Think I made it to single digits so can't speak for hitting 0.

Are people generally seeing much premium increases in their insurance? That time of the year again.....

Shop around, my renewal went up from £280 to £460 so I went on comparison site and got it for £250.

Advice needed

So I've got a 52 plate honda civic that I need to get rid of. Its recently had a new drive shaft, engine running well with no issues but it does need some work to replace part of the exhaust. Mot until October.

Having looked around online, in full working order I'd be looking at it being worth £1000-£1500.

If I was to scrap it, I'd get £200.

So I'm looking to still sell it, with the previso it needs work and hoping to get £500-£750 for it.

I've never sold a car before, let alone one that's over 20 years old, so my question is where's the best place to sell, autotrader, gumtree, Facebook or somewhere else?

Facebook would be the best place for a car like that. It’s still got a got a good few months MOT so would be a cheap runaround for someone.

I'm a week in to my EV ownership and you know what, I love it.

It's a Leaf, it doesn't look fantastic, but it's got every feature you could want.

And it was incredibly good value for money.

I charge at work and sometimes top up at home. Maximum I have to put in is 8kwh, so costs me about £1.20 overnight.

If you've doubted getting an EV, don't. Just buy a second hand one where the depreciation has already hit.

The one I've got retailed at 32k new, I paid a third of that.

Great! They don't look that bad either, although maybe the styling marks you out as an eco-warrior! Can't argue with the running costs, and in your situation I would not hesitate to do the same ;-)

(Did you get the one with the sub in the boot floor? Wondered what that sounded like LOL!)

The Bose sound system comes as standard in the Tekna. Which is annoying, because you get slightly less boot space!

But yeah, mine has that. I wasn't bothered about the sound system, I just didn't want the foot parking brake in the lower specs. Although Mercedes and Lexus both thought that was a good idea!

To be fair, I'm annoyed with the amount range drops in the winter, but overall I love ev. It's such a lazy way to drive and when you hit 40s it's what you want around town. Less hassle and smooth. Like I say range in the winter id the only bit I'm a little miffed with.

Your range drops in ICE cars in winter almost as much as EVs, it's just not as noticeable on the instrumentation.

Just bought a MK7 Golf GTD DSG and im loving how smooth it is. Anyone know if the Keyless entry can be disabled? Only part i dont like with the risk of re lay theft

Might be an option in the menu. Both our cars have it, you'll miss it after a while once you're used to it!

Get a Faraday bag.

I don't know about VW, but Mercedes key turns off after being sat a while. If I leave it in the car it doesn't even know it's still there, so I have to shake it.

Looking for someone who has had bollards fitted to their driveway - the automatic retractable ones are silly ££ so looking for the ones where it’s just lock and key for now, if anyone has any recommendations

We had this one fitted. Excellent service. Everyone I spoke to said avoid the electric and battery ones as they are so unreliable.
Takes seconds to put up or down.
