Bryn Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Fair play to him. Shame he'll be replaced by another generic Tory.
benpicko Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 You know you're being a massive **** when the king of all ***** says you're being a ****
Rincewind Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 So after he has supported and wasted taxpayers money fighting cases in courts he is saying it was not his fault. I suppose he will get a golden handshake so he can retire to the mansion owned by his wife's family and lives rent free. Saw a clip from QT where some MP tried to deny the cuts were happening. Errors galore.
The Blur Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Sensational. I think he is just deserting a sinking ship though, I am not buying his sudden attack of conscience.
Charl91 Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 http://www.politics.co.uk/blogs/2016/03/17/ids-loses-legal-challenge-to-keep-universal-credit-problems And he resigns the day after? I doubt it's a coincidence. I'm sure there's actually many reasons why he's resigned, but I highly doubt that compassion for disabled people is one of them.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Glad to see this blood sucking lizard has ****ed off. My arse is he bothered about disabled people, though.
Wymsey Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Can't think of one positive achievement ever since he started the role.
ousefox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Big kick in the teeth to Osborne's leadership chances
ChrisFilter Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Can't think of one positive achievement ever since he started the role. He's contributed to what we'll later realise is the beginning of the end of the Tory party. Dilly ding dolly dong, the witch is dead! We can but dream.
Buce Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 There is more to this than meets the eye, I suspect. The fvcking psycho couldn't even spell compassion, never mind display it.
Rincewind Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Big kick in the teeth to Osborne's leadership chances He's on the same side as Johnson on Europe so maybe a little deal has gone on. The strange thing is when the cuts were announced he was laughing and cheering them and now he is against them now that some of his own party are against them. One member has said he will defect to labour and removed the partty;s disability website.
Webbo Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Shame, it's not been a good week for the govt. I suspect it's got a little bit to do with the Euro referendum as well.
Rincewind Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Cloak and dagger stuff. http://dpac.uk.net/2016/03/ids-resignation-party-parliament-sq-tomorrow-saturday-19th-march-5pm-beware-the-ids-of-march-ids/ Didn't take them long
stevelcfc Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 This has the potential to be huge for the Tories, but I think likening it to Geoffery Howe as has been done is placing too much emphasis on it. Like others, I somewhat doubt this has anything to do with his compassion for the vulnerable. The EU is a far bigger issue within the party at present.
Guest MattP Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Shame, finally someone who has courage in his convictions and was starting to seriously reform welfare, don't blame him one bit though, the disability cuts are a step too far and ge must be sick of being Osborne's fall guy. The spongers will need a new Tory bogeyman now, this is clearly a job for Jeremy Hunt

Bryn Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Been trying to find a decent summary of changes that have been made to the welfare system since 2010, anyone help a brother out? I feel I hear a lot about cuts targeting the disabled and not much about getting fit young people back into work which is a far bigger problem.

There are no votes crying crocodile tears about able bodied being forced into work.
Bryn Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 There are no votes crying crocodile tears about able bodied being forced into work. I've never quite been able to understand why that's not an option. Impossible to enforce maybe.
Webbo Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 I've never quite been able to understand why that's not an option. Impossible to enforce maybe. You've only got see the employment figures to see young people have been forced into work. It's the Labour party that tell you it's only the disabled.
Bryn Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 You've only got see the employment figures to see young people have been forced into work. It's the Labour party that tell you it's only the disabled. Well this is what I'm asking for, a decent source of information.
