78 points

I strongly believe 12 more points would make us champions. For this to happen we would need Man City, current maximum points 78, to slip up just once in their last 9 games to give them a new maximum points of 76, Arsenal, current maximum points 79, to slip up just once in their last 8 games to give them a new maximum points of 77, and considering these have to play each other means one is for sure, which leaves us with Tottenham, current maximum points 82, would need to drop 5 points from their last 8 games to give them a new maximum points of 77, which would mean either them drawing 3 games, so their maximum points is 76, or losing 2 games, so their maximum points is 76, or finally losing 1 game and drawing 1 game, so their maximum points is 77

If someone gave me a free bet on it, then that is the number that I'd plump for - but as let's get 83* just to be safe.

*number to be revised as/when Tottenham drop points

Can we name this place cherriestalk for the day?

More like bollox talk.

Do we need all the treads on how many points we need from the last however many games count down.

7 games left and we need 17 points to make certain.

You can all guess after every game but the bottom line is we need every point till the job is done.

Win every home game, that makes 12 points. Trouble is Southampton, West Ham and Everton (who are very good away from home) will all be tough. Spurs have got Liverpool away, Manchester United and then Stoke away after today, which all look tough. Chelsea away in May, too. Arsenal face a trip to West Ham soon, as well as Manchester City and Sunderland both away. (Allardyce usually gets something from Wenger). Arsenal's home games look the easiest out of the top three.

There are a lot of potential slip ups for each side. It's far from over.

Someone has it in the to win all of their remaining games, I know we only have 7/8 games to go I just can't help but think that this season has many more twists and turns up its sleeve.

Does anyone know what the lowest winning points total in the history of the prem is?

Halfway through the season, on 39 points, Claudio set a target of 40 more points. He set out then that he wanted the title. 79 would be his target.

Arsenal have the easiest run in, but look to be too far behind. The thing to stress is that if we keep winning, then no-one can catch us

Honestly - they don't. Especially ahead of a summer tournement.

I would love to get past eighty so that the 'weak league comments' are less relevant. but my beginning feb winning prediction was 77 and last week I got to 79 so perhaps it might prove tough. looking at it from a purely statistical pov, we have averaged more than 2 per game all season long so to think we won't get another 14 isn't so odd.

I totally agree, I been saying on here for ages that 78 points will win the title. thats all we need..  4 wins and 3 loses and the title is ours, we just need 12 points. none of the others will get to 78, I am convinced.

Do many people actually think Arsenal and City are still in with a serious shout??

We're 8 and 9 points clear respectively even if they win their games in hand. We've lost 3 games all season - it would have to be a relative meltdown to finish 3rd or 4th. Not saying it can't happen, but that seriously would be bottling it.
