Wow, never thought the day that Leicester would spend £25m on a player would happen, but here it is! And I guess with the crazy money in the Premier League it was bound to happen.

It's a lot of money, but he's got a great scoring pedigree and can make a difference *now*. He's not one for the future, he's one who can help out immediately.

I think the most insane thing about this is that arguably we don't even need him. Musa for me looks capable of playing the Vardy role when he needs a rest, and we had enough firepower to win the league last year. But this is a great option and even if in the worst case he doesn't work out, it's probably not the end of the world.

I still feel like going for Carvalho would have been a better signing for the club, but Amartey might be able to step in.

Exciting times!!!

Everything is relative though, the transfer market is hugely inflated.

Ibe 15m

sissoko rated at 30m

championship players going for 15m

us spending 20-30m on a player is not such a surprise given the above and the fact that we have Champions league football this year

Vardy cannot play every PL and CL  game. Some of you are forgetting this.

Be nice to have a different tatic to adopt as plan B

Playing 2 up front maybe

I love Leo and have a lot of time for him. His goals saved us in 14/15. He turned up when we needed him against West Ham and Swansea in the title run. I have a lot of respect for him. But we can't stand still in the transfer market.

I absolutely agree, which is why we need to bolster the midfield and the defence.  I think that Musa and Vardy will eventually play together and score a lot of goals and I think that Leo will be up to the challenge when we need him.  We don't need another forward in my opinion.

Hang on people. We all love Leo. If we are comfortable being a mid table prem side then Leo is fine. If we want to be challenging for top four then he isn't.

slimani may or may not be a better option. Looks like we will get the chance to see.

I'm not sure Musa and Vardy would work as a pair, they are very similar in style. League games after away CL matches, will require rotation - Musa or Vardy with Slimani or Okazaki offers two permutations of partnerships that will work for us IMO. Offering a similar threat each time with effectively the same 442/451 system. Slimani is also happy to play the link role between midfield and attack, he likes the ball at his feet as well as taking on the last man. He'll also get into the box quick enough to make use of Mahrez and Albrightons crosses, Ulloa wastes these opportunities due to his lack of speed and acceleration.

He cried the same way my girlfriend did when I performed some 50 shades of grey on her.

You subjected her to a Dulux paint chart, you monster!

Did you miss last season?

We should have beaten yanited at home.  That was two points he cost us with a poor finish.

he won us two against norwich

he took the pen against the hammers but someone else could have.

Scored couple against Swansea - could have won in any case. They were terrible.

if Claudio thought Leo was the answer, he wouldn't have been trying to get in another striker in January.

his game and touch improved  second half last season but he really isn't top six quality.  I know we won the league but as a first change sub, he wasn't an absolutely integral part.

im not dissing  his contribution but I really want us to move on with a better alternative. like I said, slimani may or may not be that man.

I just think money could be better spent at this time in reinforcing the midfield and defence.  Our biggest weakness is the loss of Kante.  That should be our priority.

The Algerian striker Islam Slimani said Sunday , after playing against Porto his last game with Sporting Lisbon, he moved on to Leicester. The attacker , who scored in the victory (2-1 ) of the lisboetas , record by the English champion club for 30 million euros.

Slimani came to Sporting in 2013 and after the victory over the team Iker Casillas told his companions his march to take a trip to the UK and start a new stage , in this case Claudio Ranieri orders in Leicester.

Sixth signing of Leicester

Slimani comes after Musa , Mendy , Kaputska , Zieler and Luis Hernandez to reinforce the market Leicester this summer.

I wouldn't disagree with this but I would say that vardy and mahrez are carrying too much weight re goal scoring. Leo isn't a 15 goal a season man. Slimani could be.

we have enough in the kitty to address the midfield issue but I think we may not be able to get our targets over the line.

Every time I have seen him he's been ****ing great. He also has CL experience and his aerial abilities ****ed teams at the world cup.

We could actually have a target man for all our hoofing and crosses that Shinji and Vardy are too tiny to connect with.

Goals win games and we have two prolific goal scorers.

A couple of suspensions or injuries and we are in trouble.

I will be surprised if we sell Leo this window.

Everyone was screaming to get this guy in for the last 2 windows now a lot saying they don't want him. Seems odd to me.

There is still room for sentimentality in football (I hope) but sometimes it can cloud judgement. Ulloa was a donkey for a considerable chunk of last season, he only ever plays from the bench, we haven't upped his wages or offered a new contract and it would appear quite clear that he isn't considered good enough in a lot of situations by our own staff. Yes he scored a few important goals for us back end of last season and yes sometimes his hold up play is extremely useful but I get so frustrated watching him play sometimes, lumbering around looking like he jogging tripping over his own feet, through balls going begging because he doesn't have the pace to get on them. Ulloa isn't likely to be a 15 goals per season man for us again. Slimani looks like he could be and his stats say he should be. We are looking to strengthen and improve and push the club forward. Sometimes sentimentality can get in the way of that. I hope Leo sticks around and we continue to use him when needed, but I certainly don't have an issue with buying an upgrade one bit.
