This is what the Mercury is reporting.

Right, let's break it down.

  • Leicester City have made a move for the 28-year-old striker with a bid of around £20m.

  • Slimani is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League and to link up with Algeria team-mate Riyad Mahrez at Leicester.

  • Sporting, though, have quoted City a figure of around £34m.

  • Leicester are not prepared to pay that figure.

  • Unless Sporting lower their asking price, the deal will not go ahead.

They seem to pouring a bit of cold water over this....

Slimani wasn't crying at the end of the game for no reason. He is clearly leaving, might not come here though. Classic brinkmanship, which party will break first?

Both sides playing a bit of poker at the moment but probably both sides, and Slimani, want it to happen....      I'd raise them a few bob and chuck in a box of clappers ...  that should do it.

This is probably one reason to add Silva to the deal. Sporting is not in the financial position to turn down £50 million. As their banks are probably telling them right now. Do they have a RB, too, by chance? Throw in an extra 10 million  and it would wipe out a third of their debt.

If we feel he'll enhance our prospects, why are we moaning about an extra 12 million? We probably could get it done for around 27, 28 million. Just get it done, we are rich beyond our wildest dreams! It's not like we're being quoted something outrageous like 40 million.

For goodness sake, if bolasie is worth 30 Slimani is deffo worth 34!

Get it done and stop fooking around!

Would you go to an auction and bid £1m for something when the next highest bid was £300,000?

The guy is clearly for sale and by all accounts wants to leave, it's just a case of Sporting holding out for the highest price.  This one is probably going to deadline day but there's no point in us upping until someone else gazumps us.

We are generally good these days at not paying the price the clubs want... and I haven't in the last two or so years known us to lose out on a class player because of it. we got Musa and Mendy for less than what was being quoted at first. That is how you do good business.

Sure it is easy to pay what they want and get it done but that usually is well above the market value and other clubs start to charge you more for players too because they know they can.

I'm glad you're not in charge of the books at Leicester. Christ.

Somehow over the last 24 hours, we seemed to have become the only bidder in an auction where the seller has got to sell.

Not celebrating until the ink is dry and I know which of my beloved City regulars are getting demoted to sub-Squad depth as a result.

No one right away. We learned that at Hull. Newbies are going to have to earn their spots the hard way.

The thing I like about both the Slimani and Silva potential transfers is that they are both at their peak. They are not 30 or early 20s these are experienced professionals at the top of their game. This is very different to our normal transfers.

Exactly this. Both players have 3/4 years at the top of their prime! Don't get me wrong I'm all for buying youth players & letting them develop with time but proven quality which can make an instant impact is key.

Though now I think about it, a 4-2-3-1 could work quite nicely.

            Slimani

Musa - Okazaki - Vardy

   Drinkwater, Amartey

Fuchs Huth Morgan Simpson

Hope not!

We've all see how pointless it is playing Vardy out wide for England.

What's your name?! Woy?
