MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 I just don't see it. How is he the quality we are looking for? Well what's the quality we're looking for? This squad is built on a lot of no-names, rejects and team players. Joe Allen appears like an underwhelming signature at first, but you don't know what you've got until you've got it.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Drinkwater Kanté King James Amartey Mendy For two spots. Don't need this cvnt.
MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Drinkwater Kanté King James Amartey Mendy For two spots. Don't need this cvnt. We don't know whether Kanté will stay (I do hope he does). We don't know whether James will ever feature again in a Leicester shirt (although it'd be nice). We don't know whether Amartey is already ready for first-team action. We don't know whether we'll sign Mendy (could be connected to the Kanté situation). So, we may need this cünt, after all.
biggs Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 All for it myself. Would fit in well to the style of play we have now. Hope it works out.
SB87_LCFC Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Links to Allen perhaps to try to push Nice to set their price for Mendy?
HoustonFox Posted 29 June 2016 Posted 29 June 2016 Are we trying to build the smallest midfield in the world? (If we keep Kante that is)
dannythefox Posted 29 June 2016 Posted 29 June 2016 Like it or not Joe Allen is a very good footballer. But I'm not sure we're in for him could just be to try force another deal through.
AyewJoking Posted 29 June 2016 Posted 29 June 2016 look at the times clever bollocks not sure if serious
Kilworthfox Posted 29 June 2016 Posted 29 June 2016 Well what's the quality we're looking for? This squad is built on a lot of no-names, rejects and team players. Joe Allen appears like an underwhelming signature at first, but you don't know what you've got until you've got it. Players who will improve the first team, he is not better than Drinkwater. Also physically he is below average. I appreciate that he keeps the ball well, but he is not a dynamic player who will change the game for us in important moments. My short analysis of him, but its a game of opinions!
Babylon Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Players who will improve the first team, he is not better than Drinkwater. And yet when we signed the likes of Drinkwater and Morgan people said "why are we signing them, they are no better than Bamba and Danns". As a club, we currently get the very best out of someones ability. That's how we succeed, someone like Allen might not look like they are pulling up trees in a failing Liverpool team. But in a team like ours he could, not that I think there is that much truth in it.
Babylon Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Doesnt suit our style Perhaps we might try and adjust out style a little... I see Mendy has exceptional passing stats.
Moksky Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Perhaps we might try and adjust out style a little... I see Mendy has exceptional passing stats. I think we may tweak a couple of things, but not overhaul our general style. Mendy can pass, but effectively was first choice before we signed Kante. Joe Allen just doesnt suit how we play - he was at Swansea who high possession stats at that time and Brentan took him Liverpool where they played similar bt more of a high tempo pressing game until their legs ran out Hes not for us

He's been outstanding for Wales in a team who have low possession stats. His workrate and commitment has been exactly of that as Drinky this season for us. Just because he's played in high possession style sides doesn't mean that's all he can do. Personally think he would be perfect alongside Kante and Drinky if we look to play across the middle next season.
Staffs Fox Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 I'd be escastic with Joe Allen, I think he's a great player, He's better in the tackle than people give him credit for, tidy passer, great positional play and chips in with goals, For the right price he could be awesome for us, Approaching his peak years too
Moksky Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 No he wasn't. You're not the manager or the scout, so you don't know what our long term plan is. This is my opinion, Im not looking for row. I do know more than you think. I do also know though that we went for Mendy last time round, and ended up with Kante. That is a fact. I will also bet anyones bottom dollar on here, that we will not change our style of play massively. It doesnt require it, we won the league by 10 points, and we are not suddenly going to transform into Arsenal or Liverpool. Why should the management do that, as you would need a huge overhaul of the squad, and by keeping hold of Vardy tells you everything. Our full backs will not be asked to bomb on like Spurs. Besides we are signing Mendy. Yes as possible replacement for Kante, IF he leaves. Dont forget we also signed Amartey in Jan, we also have Matty James coming back even if Inler decides to move on. I havent said that Joe Allen is a bad player or couldnt do what is required, but I dont see us signing him and I dont think he fits in our shape. Iceland and Italy style is similar to Citys and its working, particulary Italys performance v Spain the other night. Collectively a well marshalled, drilled team where everyone knows what they have to do, and bust a gut to do it.
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Good little diagram showing that despite Mendy seemingly coming in to replace Kante he pretty much has the opposite strengths.. Or at least has done in his role at Nice https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Clt9KaLWQAAxtqz.jpg:large
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 July 2016 Posted 1 July 2016 I'd have the Welsh Pirlo Composed little player.
Fox 4 Life Posted 1 July 2016 Posted 1 July 2016 World Class ???? Absolutely bossed the 2nd best ranked team in the world on the biggest stage. Yep I would say a world class performance.
