Scott Hogan on Leicester radar who believe Brentford striker could be the next Jamie Vardy

LEICESTER are keeping tabs on Brentford hitman Scott Hogan — to see if he is the next Jamie Vardy.

Hogan, 24,  recovered from a bad knee injury to finish last season with a flood of goals for  Brentford.

Could Scott Hogan be tracing a similar path to Jamie Vardy from non-league to the Premier League and maybe even England?

Could Scott Hogan be tracing a similar path to Jamie Vardy from non-league to the Premier League and maybe even England?

Now the shrewd champions want to know if it was a one-off spurt or a sign of his quality.

Hogan didn’t get off to the best of starts in his professional football career.

At the end of the 2009/10 season the forward was released by Rochdale after only been called into the senior squad once.

The 24-year-old dropped into non-league and signed for Woodley Sports, where he netted 21 goals in just 27 games.

After spells with FC Halifax Town, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ashton United and Hyde, Hogan was handed a second chance with Rochdale in May, 2013.

And it’s one he grabbed with both hands, as he ended the season with 17 goals in 33 league games, earning him a £750,000 move to Brentford.

He ended the 2015/16 season with seven goals in seven games, which has seemingly alerted Claudio Ranieri at Leicester.

Hogan will be desperate to follow Jamie Vardy’s rags to riches story. The England man also played for Stocksbridge Park Steels and FC Halifax Town, before moving on to Fleetwood Town and then Leicester City in the Premier League.

And the rest, they say, is history.

Load of rubbish.

He's been injured for 18 months and scored a few goals at the end of last season.

It seems some of these lazy journalists have forgotten we are champions. We're on a different level now.

Leave these signings for the likes of Dyche to make. We can buy whoever we like now.

Except for the ones who turn us down...

Got a friend who's a Brentford fan, and he's been really impressed with this guy.

Sounds like an 'iron in the fire' for us rather than an immediate move, so be interested to see how he does this season.

i was wondering if winning the league turned people into snobs..... Looks like it does, if he's good enough I don't care where he's played previously.... Sign him up!!!!!

With that kind of injury record I doubt he's the kind of player we'd be after, though he does still have youth on his side. Think we're setting our sights higher these days anyway

Watched Brentford v Cardiff at end of last season. He was a proper handful and scored two in about 5 mins near the end of the game. Their fans love him, he looked a player to be honest.
