Phube Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 So if we do a direct comparison with relegated teams then Hull = Aston Villa* Therefore we currently stand at: -1 Or 80 points. *Edited thanks to Facecloth!
DB11 Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 At least we can't get any worse after the Arsenal game
Jimothy Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Hull came up through the playoffs so therefore were the worst of the promoted teams. Villa were the worst relegated team last year, so Hull replace them, and we only draw at Villa Park. So we're a point down. Burnley = Newcastle Boro = Norwich Hull = Villa
sdb Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 This could become a pretty depressing thread! And i'm not being pessimistic, but over 81 points from 37 games..?!
murphy Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Last season was a miracle. Pure football porn! It won't happen again so please do not use last season's success to beat the team with this season. Crap thread.

I made the exact same thread last season to compare our 1st and 2nd parts of the season. I kinda like these statty threads, hence my Crazy Stat thread. There will be no bashing from me, just an interest in the differences between like for like games.
murphy Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 OK, I don't mean to have a go at you. I'm just in a bad mood - since about one thirty yesterday. I think since last season of all seasons though, this thread is just setting unrealistic expectations.

Benguin Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 50-60 points should be are realistic target this year. Obviously would love us to do better

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Why is this thread a thing? You're only going to be disappointed comparing this season to last.
nnfox Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Don't do us vs us from last season, we won't beat it and it'll get depressing. Do us vs last season's 4th place team, 6th place, 10th place and 17th place - that will give an indication of where we'll end up. Against Villa last season: Champions = 1pt 4th (Man C) = 1pt 6th (Soton) = 3pts 10th (Chelsea) = 3pts 17th (Sund) = 1pt Villa won just two games last season, vs Palace (15th) & Norwich (19th). What does this mean? Nothing at the moment. Revisit after 6 games. Which btw would have us with 5 points based on our like for like fixtures last season, but watch the forum go into meltdown if by late September we have posted just one win.

But that's surely one reaso TO do it. Of course we won't beat last season (just like we wouldn't beat the first half season last year!) but it will add some (much needed) perspective. I.e. as bad as we were we only dropped 2 points.
ozleicester Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Wow this is one of the reasons why society is fvcked. This thread doesnt cause anything, it (like decent media in the real world) reports the facts! People asking for it not to happen, are quite simply behaving like an Ostrich.
murphy Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 12 hours ago, StanSP said: that's their problem, not @Phube's is it? No - but why highlight it? Why use last season's success against us? The point is that this thread can only damage morale among our fans. We should bask in the glory of last season but don't use it as a benchmark.
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 Murphy if you don't wanna see it just don't enter the thread. Personally, I think it'll make interesting reading, and it'll give Phube something to do other than play Mario.

Of course I can choose to ignore the thread, but the point I am trying to make is that a thread like this can only go to fuel the negativity among our fans that has already started to rear it's head after one game.
Deucalion Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 Looks interesting, and far from destroying my moral, has made me feel better that we are only -1 from last season.
possiblygeorge Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 This thread could absolutely break me by Christmas

Well, unless we are miraculously going to be as good as last season, in which case we will all be fine, disappointment is something we are all going to have to face at some point. I think it is a bit harsh to blame the OP for this !! ha ha.
