Nick Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 I trust the manager and what he see's day in day out. We can't buy everybody we think are great players - it's about the squad. I don't think we'll be too disappointed come close of window. Certainly not as morose as we have felt in seasons past because it appears we can't get things over the line. We we have kept everybody it was possible to keep, strengthened in a couple of areas so far and I reckon we'll all be surprised at what we can do this season. Although I doubt we can replicate the title win, I do believe we have a chance of top six and a decent run in the CL and the cups that may lead to other forms of glory. Up the city.
Charl91 Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 If we happened to end up with Nzonzi and Slimani, it would've been a ridiculously good transfer window.
Buzzell Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 Sign Slimani, Camacho or Nzonzi and it will have been a very good transfer window for us.
car1os Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 After Saturday's showing I think we can consider Amartey as solely a midfielder and I think we've got enough cover in CM now. Would like a RB, but otherwise happy with this window as we've kept most of our main players and not spent over the odds with our new signings. We've seen a lot of names linked with City over this window but I think a lot of that is due to agents trying to get the best deal for their clients, and as the League Champions we're bound to get a lot of that. I don't pay attention to the speculation as it only raises hopes and causes disappointment.
Merging Cultures Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Not if we get Slimani and Silva. Our squad has already improved this season, these two signings would be fantastic.

If last season taught us anything it's that spending huge amounts of cash on players in an attempt to win the league doesn't always work. You need the right combination and can achieve amazing things without buying the latest Nigerian, Brazilian or Korean one-season wonder for umpteen bazillion quid. Those that clamour for "proven quality" are hopelessly naive in thinking that it's a given that "proven quality" in one place transfers to another. All you end up with sometimes is an expensive misfit, whereas the unproven quality turns out to be a gem (Kante, Mahrez, etc.) Panic stricken demands for Top & Ranieri to "gerrimin" and "splash the cash" for every single name that some doofus floats in the transfer thread are laughable and the assertions of others that they "know" that a particular player is better than another (why aren't you a premier league manager, remind me?) are bordering on the pathetic. How's about actually shutting up and letting the club get on with things rather than bickering endlessly about your pet players ("it's fun to speculate," you'll say - no it isn't, it's mind-numbingly tedious to see an endless succession of know-nothing wannabes proclaiming their supposed inside knowledge of the outer reaches of football transfers) and trust the manager that has delivered the most amazing thing that we'll ever see in our lifetimes? Those claiming that the club is lacking ambition in cementing our position in the top 4 by spending £100 million quid per week on new talent are deluded twats, frankly, and should give it a rest. Lest we forget.
Bayfox Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Lose Kante. Keep everyone else. Bring in 5 players and then ice the cake with a double swoop on sporting.
walkerleeds Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 I am happy. Let's put it into perspective: Players like Chilwell, Gray and Amartey will almost feel like new signings given how little they played last season, I certainly think that's the case with Amartey. We've also signed a new GK, new CB, new CM, new winger / CM (Kaputzska) and a CF. All this and we've kept hold of all of our assets bar one from last season. The players we have brought / fringe players last season will be sure to keep the droppable players on their toes (potentially the likes of Albrighton, Simpson) which gives healthy competition throughout as no one will feel their place is safe. Chill out fellow Foxes. This is a really hungry, competitive squad and I am sure we'll have a great season in the league and definitely qualify from our Champions League group. COME ON YOU LEICESTER BOYS.
Harry - LCFC Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 I'm delighted with how its gone. One of our best ever IMO. An exodus could well have happened, instead most of our best players signed new contracts and we're having to find a way to replace just one - still not easy, but a manageable situation I feel. Elsewhere our forward line has got stronger, we've got reliable back up in goal and we have young players who look capable of making big contributions in the near future.
fazzyfox Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Does anyone think that if we sign another striker this will be offset in part by selling Ulloa to a Southampton / Swansea? I don't want him to go but Vardy, Okazaki, New player and Musa leave Ulloa unlikely to make the bench. Still can't decide if one of Mendy and Amartey are capable of being a regular starter, haven't seen enough of them against top sides despite some encouraging signs. If a top class player becomes available in that position (that suits our pace and style) then maybe we should go for it. We should not forget that every contract renegotiation is the equivalent of signing a top player that you know is good enough and will fit in. Those wage rises cost but it's easier to trust a proven success than gamble on finding an adequate replacement who may or may not settle in and hit the ground running.
weller54 Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Be gutted if we don't get Slimani and Silva now!...

It seems like a lot of strikers, but we use a 442, and if they are going to rest players around Champions League, then he would probably still make the bench for some games, and play the role he plays. And if we do sign Slimani, and design our offensive set up to include his abilities, then Ulloa is the only person who plays in his style, and can therefore sub for him if there is an injury, or suspension issue. Also, Champions League! I would like to see Ulloa make at least one appearance in a match, given how much he has done for the club. Although I doubt he will be here next year, especially if any of our youth team strikers are any good.
Sionnach gorm Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 I think it has been an excellent window...so no.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Personally yes.... We are the Champions of England and about to embark on our European tour. And if Drinkwater picks up a lasting injury I think we are light in the middle. He looks to be the only central midfielder with a great range of passing and the energy to go with it. I think we could manage without most of them now. The strikers can replace Vardy. Chilwell or Schlupp could fill in for Fuchs, we know that Wasa can do a job if called upon. And Gray could probably come in for Mahrez. But if Drinkwater is out for any length of time I think we'd really miss him. He's the engine of this team now AND he's a supplier of chances. IMO we are taking a gamble on him staying fit by not signing someone in the central area that can do a similar job. Looking at the other challengers this season...they have improved immensely. Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea in particular are strong. I think our City team could so benefit from a real class midfield playmaker. Someone who can put his foot on the ball and orchestrate from the middle. Drinkwater can do this, but he looks the only one. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the transfers we've made.
