Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 I'm not sure about giving Claudio free reign on deciding who to bring in. Steve Walsh was a success because he had different ideas on which players we should sign independent of Ranieri and the club backed him and without that relationship there would have been no Kante and no league win. Too many yes men and similar thinkers does not create a good environment.
Clever Fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 First job, find us a quality ball playing midfielder in the David Silva, Coutinho mould. Then a right back and with Silva coming from Portugal we'll be pretty well covered.

I could be wrong but I just have a gut feeling that Walsh wasn't happy that we weren't signing some of his targets which left him frustrated. Walsh had earned the right to be backed without question.

Even though he'd recently signed a new contract?
AyewJoking Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 is he a defensive midfielder or more attack minded?
Nick Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Happy with this - vast experience, established relationship with the manager, ex-player and a working contemporary knowledge of world football. Let's all move on and quit speculation about the posts previous incumbent. Welcome Eduardo.

foxy boxing Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 we will have to see how it works out but as yet unconvinced
Clever Fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 That would be another one in the Kapuska mould. A left sided midfielder.
Dan Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Good luck to him. Really hope he's the real deal. It's a massively important role.
st albans fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 James sharpe says he has been advising us for a while perhaps explains the sudden late interest in silva?

crazyleicester Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Like anyone new to the club, we should give them a bit of time to see what they can do. Steve Walsh did great for us but there were also some turkeys in amongst the jewels that people, especially the media, like to forget. Macia will make errors like everyone does, I just hope we dont become judge and jury after one signing. BTW Im not sure what percentage of time that Steve Walsh spent on the training pitch as assistant manager but has that situation been resolved? With Shakespeare going away to prepare for England every now and again it means we have a relatively inexperienced set of head coaches left for the non Internationals. I know these days most are involved but do we need another experienced coach for the training ground?

Did we get anyone in to replace Walsh on the training ground or are we just using the same lot we had (or even promoted one from the youth set-up?. As far as I can remember we lost Idiakez to Derby (again not sure who came in) and Walsh left the coaching set-up. I just cant remember reading if those voids have been filled and by who. Maybe someone can enlighten me?
