Monsell1976 Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 All steady sides, as we are now, the points return as we are at present will be 0. To even get 6 of 12, something dramatic has to change. Barring Man City, these are the teams we should be competing for mid table with, just concerning that we are not competing with anyone at present, not even the team rock bottom.

Based on current form 2 points seem ambitious but who knows . Fast forward from 26 Dec to 2 Jan and with a cheering whistle the squad takes a big hit due to AFCON . It's the games during January through to mid Febuary become truly frightening and new manager or nor the current squad will have to stop the rot and are any of you confident?
Stevosevic Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 I think we'll get to the halfway point with 3 wins. Disgraceful if so.
Nalis Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 Man City: LOSS Bournemouth: WIN Stoke: WIN Everton: DRAW The hope being that Bournemouth, Stoke and Everton are inconsistent and have off days. Plus, Mendy is back for those.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 How we are playing I'm struggling to see us winning any of these! Even if Mendy does return, he's gonna need games to get to match fitness. Worrying times at the moment. We do not want to go into Christmas any nearer the bottom. Something must change. We must start taking control of games.

It's more like Liverpool did a Liverpool and let slip a certain 1-3 victory. That being said I don't take a win or even draw against them for granted.
norwichfox Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 I can't see where we'll even get a point given current form, tactics and probable selection of ourselves...maybe a point from Everton

The performances are dreadful. I don't see where you get the 6 points. Without DD Citeh will steam roll us, even without Aguero and Fernandinho. Stoke and Bournemouth are doing well. Everton just drew against MU this week. Based on the current form all teams we're up against in the next 4 weeks are playing better. If there is no change be it players or formation, it will be the same result. Positive point is that Mendy is back, but is too short on competition. The only point I saw us winning was against Bournemouth, now I'd be more inclined to see a loss against them (away) and a draw against Everton.

I can't see where we will get the goals. We were a team that would allow possession and goals, but always score more. At this point no one seems to be capable of scoring. I fear a 5+ goal drubbing against Man city and at least 3+ from Bournemouth.

With Drinky and Mendy available we're going to look a completely different team so it's hard to call. I'm going for a win, a draw and a loss. Though I think we're capable of going unbeaten in these 3, Mendy may take a game or two to get up to speed. Bournemouth.. A Stoke.. A Everton.. H
foxfanazer Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 Think we'll lose the first 3 and beat Everton. Not confident about the Bournemouth game whatsoever. They'll outwork us and are much better than us on the ball

We need to get a chuff on Col and start winning some games for sure not trying to be too hard on things but I'm struggling to see improvement without spending heavily in Jan
Aeropars Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 All indications are that the best we can get out of games at the moment is draws. Our inability to create a clear goal scoring chance is highly worrying and Its not all about the service. The strikers and midfield are not making intelligent runs, the midfield are not trying killer passes and our entire game is based on safety. With the defense not performing well either it makes for a dreadful watch. I would go for 2 points out the lot. There is nothing to suggest a change in form.

I think we'll get 7 points out of those fixtures and Claudio will still be manager this time next year even if we only get 3 points out of them!
foxy boxing Posted 6 December 2016 Posted 6 December 2016 it's not just the results which obviously need improving, it's also the performances which have been poor at best.we need to pick up points anyway we can and the players have to be fully focused on the job in hand.they need o start working things out in training like the defense on stopping getting beat by crosses into the box or from set pieces. we can no longer keep Morgan and Huth exposed when we are on the offensive. if we don't want to concede goals we have to hold onto the ball longer to stop the opposition using it. the players need to feel comfortable on the ball and not just hit and hope to find the front two. make no mistake we are in a dogfight until the end of the season and will only get out of this mess with commitment, determination, and the players ability which they have not been using for whatever reason.
Clever Fox Posted 6 December 2016 Posted 6 December 2016 It's one game at a time. Man City won't want to lose two on the trot. But then they might be over confident and we catch them out. CR has tried a few things that haven't worked. I agree we are in transition we were never going to keep winning playing like last year. He's trying to get them playing more football and conserving energy. Vardy being a perfect example. Last years he chased everything now he chooses what to chase. What I'd like to see is us pack the middle and defence while also playing with width. That way we might pick up a few results to keep us out of the bottom 3. Then in January sign the quality needed for the fight. I'd hate our great achievement to be sullied by relegation.

They're title contenders, have a performant squad and got one of the best managers of the last decade. They won't come overconfident but focused on the three points. And they'll get them. 2. What do you exactly mean with playing more football and conserving energy? I fail to remember any game remotely approaching this definition. 3. Right now, he chose to not chase.

When you expect them to win winnable games they lose, when you expect them to lose the pull out a result. I don't expect us to win but we'll wait and see. 2. Last year we played long to Vardy and Mahrez which meant the ball was doing the work. While it proved very effective it has it's limitations especially against the better teams. CR knows that and has encouraged the players to try and use the ball better by playing and passing more. As that's how the better teams do it, keeping possession of the ball and frustrating the opposition. Vardy is not the most skillful forward we've ever had but his strength is his pace. you want him to use that pace to chase real opportunities instead of lost causes. By not chasing lost causes he has the energy in reserve to gain the advantage when a real chance comes along. 3. Your right he's not chasing everything but that's part of his learning, Knowing what to chase and what to let go. He will get better at it.
RoyFox Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 We need 42 points to absolutely guarantee safety. So that's 29 points from 23 games, 1.26 points per game. We can forget Man City, a point would be a bonus. To keep within touching distance of 42 points we HAVE to get 6 points from the next 4 games (Bournemouth H, Stoke A, Everton H, West Ham A) otherwise we're in trouble, any less than 6 points and we'll likely be 17th or 18th going into Jan (that's really going to help our recruitment isn't it!)
