lcfcben76 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I'd definitely see if ulloa is up for pulling a U turn if slimani isn't fit

Vardy has been atrocious, forget the service for a moment and look at the other aspects of his game eg. closing down, chasing, trying to win the ball himself, dropping in when needed, its all shite. One game pre Christmas he had 6 touches. All game. Keep hearing about Service, and true to an extent, but Slimani has been without service, more so if you consider him a target man (nobody putting balls in the box) and yet he is statistically our best forward this season. Top of Goals, Second in Assists, Top of Aerial duels, Responsible for half of our points total in all competitions, work-rate very high and always drops in to collect the ball, try and create his own chances and help midfield, YET he gets slated on here as being shit, a waste of money etc on the basis that he is new and not one of the boys. Vardy is playing because up to this point, the Fans and the Manager are blinkered to the fact he's been shit, blue tinted specs lot on here would still be cheering him on if he pissed on their wives. Rarely, until now has he faced criticism and anyone that does criticise has been given short-shrift on here. He isn't interested and to be frank, could well be a one trick pony. He seems incapable of changing/adapting his game and now that he's been found out tactically, that could be the end for him. Just to reiterate. The lack of service argument is getting boring.

Like I've said, ignore the lack of service and look at the rest of his game. He got caught just standing around offside about 4 times last night. He doesn't put a shift in or help out or close down or try to create his own chances. Other players do, have far better stats and yet get slated to the hilt. Eg. Slimani He's lost a fair chunk of pace too, unless that's tiredness/lack of effort He got service yesterday too btw, and either fecked it up or dangles his legs around for pens
jon1bc Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 The team that played last night was our strongest team. Benching people and making changes is only going to make things worse.

But you can't persist if they are not motivated, there are players like Kapustka waiting for a chance, even if it's only for a couple of games, I can't see how it can get any worse.
weller54 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Slimani is our ONLY chance of scoring goals and staying up.... We desperately need him back and when he is bench Vardy!

I think the motivation is there, they've just forgot how to play football
SecretPro Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 2 minutes ago, jon1bc said: I think the motivation is there, they've just forgot how to play football Maybe, but when they look up for it we usually stick with the high press, we haven't done that for a while now. It seems sluggish at the moment, everyone seems to shit themselves on the ball and lump it asap. When Slim is fit, I'd drop Vards for Slimani with Mahrez behind, Gray and Albrighton on the wings and drop Drinky for an Ndidi and Mendy partnership, see how they get on. If Mahrez continues to be doggo id bring Kaputska in for a couple of games in the no10 role. What have we got to lose really other than a few overpaid jessies getting grumpy?
char123 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I suppose when you hit 50 yard balls to him he is going to be effective. The midfield is the problem and has been all season.he was last season!!Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
char123 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 clutching at straws here but don't we have any youngsters we can throw in? the senior players aren't performing & the youngsters would actually try. pascanu, chilwell, choudhury, kapustka, muskwe, recall barnes & lawrence??? shame we sold dodooSent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
char123 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Slimani is our ONLY chance of scoring goals and staying up.... We desperately need him back and when he is bench Vardy! agree completeky and said this time and time again but slimani is a target man so ideally we need to play with 2 wingers who are prepared to get balls in the box (kaputska maybe?) then he will score for fun and a run in the side will do him good. he is a class player but just hasnt had a chance yetSent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
mrmagoomc4 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 bench vardy any way he needs to be made aware how crap hes been

Spicer Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Albert Einstein. We might as well switch things up. I'm not saying it would even necessarily work, but it's worth a go.
Leamington Fox Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 If Slimani is fit, we should definitely bench Vardy. He is totally ineffective at the moment and, importantly, not working hard.
Izzy Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Why do we say 'bench' players now instead of 'drop' them? Sounds like another Americanism creeping into the beautiful game
chicagofox Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Vardy should be dropped from the match day squad for a VERY long time. In fact I'd be happy if he was never selected again.
Matt Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 If Man City can bench Aguero i'm damn sure we can bench the £100k p/w celebrity wannabe.
Legend_in_blue Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 There was a time when the likes of Izzet and Elliot were the top earners and we went down. Not once did I think at the time they weren't deserving of their wage. They were top performers, consistent game after game and put a shift in. It pretty much screwed us financially at the time though. Fast forward 15 years and it's a disgrace that someone earning 100k a week can turn from being brilliant to utter garbage in the space of 6 months. It isn't acceptable and if we do go down, we are completely and utterly screwed. Another 15 years down the line, if it all goes tits up, I'll still look back with more fondness at the O'Neill years than one great season followed by a dismal, unacceptable level of performance from the players the next. It's unacceptable and the players need to sort it out or forever tarnish what was achieved last season. Bench Vardy if you want, it's past that imo, their heads are gone, and mentally individuals and as a team we're all over the place.
fairbanksh Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 He should be benched and brought on as a sub but wether Ranieri can construct a plan b so we have different tactics for Slimani and then Vardy is doubtful He has been poor but hoof ball doesn't give him a chance Worth mentioning that CR also got a big pay rise and has been doing his own celeb circuit
Sir Shep Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I think Vardy coming off the bench would be a good thing now.
Chico1958 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I think it's all very depressing at the moment. Can I cancel my Spain trip
thegaffa Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 As much as ulloa has annoyed me, I can understand his frustrations at being down the pecking order than Vardy. if fit I would play ulloa and slimani up front and just keep the crosses coming in by that means playing the wingers on their natural sides. those two would cause no end of problems in the opposition box.
