Probably left after training and will be back tomorrow for training. I can't safely say that CR was never seen scouting an opponent last season or ever! He has staff for that. A one on one chat with his captain on probably a private jet for a couple of hours might actually have done some good. A few of you lot need to pick your bottom lip up and stop sulking shit happens every now and again! And I could say that our performances against some sides he probably knew little about (i.e. Bournemouth ) reflected that I bet he has never seen millwall play in the flesh and yesterday was a perfect opportunity to do that. I'm sure that the club had already accepted the invitation but they could have sent someone else instead of claudio given the change in circumstances once we had beaten Derby. mentally it isn't good for them to keep on being lauded when they are struggling to cope with the reality of the situation. But you can't refuse an award - understand that. Send kasper and Wes. it's possible that Claudio's Monaco connections meant the organisers asked for him to attend the event but I know what would be more important to me given the current circumstances (unless we really aren't intending to get through Saturday's tie).

Can't get my head around why people are wound up at this. Essentially, you could start a topic called Wes Morgan farts at the minute and first reply would be something along the lines of WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS BREAKING WIND THE LOSER IT'S TIME HE GOT HIS ACT TOGETHER AND SORTED THIS SHIT OUT INSTEAD OF WASTING HIS TIME BREAKING WIND

We should have put last season to bed in the summer and moved on, not doing so has had a negative impact. For me it's not just about one awards ceremony (although I think it's ill advised when you look nailed on for relegation), it's about the clubs failure to plan ahead again and not see that drop of coming. The players should have been shielded from it and had it drummed into them that it was just the start and not the end of our story.
foxy boxing Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 really bad timing going to pick up an award to congratulate how great we were! it's another distraction the team just doesn't need at the moment and they need to stay focused on the job in hand which is staying in the Premier league

I would argue that the hangover from last season was a major factor in our poor start to the season but that's gone now. The reason we're so shit at the minute is because the side has no confidence whatsoever. Morale is at an all time low. These gigs can only be a good thing for the club.

Guest Danny Clender Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 Indeed, how would that RSVP work? "Sorry can't come to yer do, we're shit and dunner deserve your award, can we try again if we beat Sevilla?" Begrudging them award ceremonies, this is how angry the fans are with the club, I hope they understand.

I'd be bloody embarrassed to be stood there quite frankly. Their precious egos don't need any more stroking.

No I'm embarrassed about where we are now and so they should be. I'd be stood there thinking about the fans seeing me celebrating last season (again... nearly a year down the line) when we look comfortably favourites for relegation. I'd be embarrassed about all the world class sportsman looking at me and thinking we're nothing more than a freak and a fluke. I wouldn't be stood there thinking, wow this is great what a boost for everyone.

From the top down. The club, since being successful, has become slow and lethargic. Lazy almost.

filbertway Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 Gotta say I'm with Bab's on this one. You've got to be a seriously deluded person to be happily taking praise for something you did ages ago when you're performing terribly in the present. It's like getting an employee of the month award at Morrison's and then being presented it a fortnight later after you've spent the last 2 weeks putting detergent in the freezers and smashing all the crates of beer.

I'm starting to think we should ask to be demoted to the Midland Football Alliance and see if we can do it all again. The one plus side about this terrible season is that it should prove to be a major wake up call to everyone at the club and hopefully some major lessons will be learned from the people at the top.

You'd hope... but the youth sides are sliding into the abyss and the person who over sees all of that just seems to get more and more control.

Fair point, it really does make me uncomfortable to see how pally Rudkin is with Vichai. I've barely ever heard a positive word spoken about the man, which is poor considering how long he's been with the club. The owner's weak points seem to be actual football related decisions, so I guess they look to Rudkin and Whealan for advice in those matters. We've won the championship and the premier league with those two in their positions, so I imagine that in the eyes of the owners, they're almost irreplaceable. Well damn, my first bit of positivity in months has slipped away haha.

We've looked a well oiled machine for years, but I think it's clear it's the way Pearson wanted things doing rather than some grand plan. Not going to slate Rudkin too much as we don't know really what his role is or whether he's failing or not. But if you're meant to be heading it up and things go tits up, then someone needs to be holding him to account as well as the manager and players.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 So that's explains Wes' lead boots this season. He's been melting down all the awards and using them as shin pads.

I do know people that have had to deal with him over many years. I don't pretend to know what specific job he does other than he has his finger in virtually every pie there is from what kids to keep on to who to appoint as manager. Fact that he sits next to Vichai suggests he has certainly got his and the boards ear. I've heard every word to describe him, some extreme, fair to say none complimentary.
