Did  Wes actually pass the trophy to Claudio ?

Thought Wes was going to drop it, similar to not being able to pass correctly to a blue shirt on grass.

Uproar about awards not a single person knew existed until about 20 minutes ago?

I'm sure nobody is naieve enough to think them going will make much difference.

But we need to leave last year behind, that is an issue. The hangover from last season is a part of the reason we find ourselves in this mess.

When we're in such a mess and the manager appears clueless about how to solve it, then it's ill judged... the club has ambassadors who can do this stuff.

This isn't something that is going to make or break our season.

Can't get my head around why people are wound up at this.

Morgan captains the team like he quit in the summer

Bolt is Jamacian

Wes is Fauxmacian

Yesterday he apparently cracked the whip. Calling off a day off and bringing players in for an extra day of training.

Today, he is swanning off to another awards ceremony with his captain who, well shouldn't be captaining five year olds.

The circumstances at present should not have our captain and our so called manager at flash shindig 4 days before a 5th round cup game.

They earnt rly all the plaudits last season, we are now in February the following year. This has gone on far enough.

There is a reason why everyone else in that room is a serial winner. They prioritise the right things. How many times have you seen top sports stars accept awards by video link because they're too busy training for their next triumph. No one cares if we do not show up four days before an fa cup fifth round tie at probably one of the toughest places to go in England. I's wrong because this lax attitude is exactly what got us here. They should be working out of sheer shame of the joke they have become.

From the Daily Mail:

Claudio Ranieri was also in Monaco to collect the Spirit of Sport award on behalf on his Leicester City team who defied odds of 5,000/1 to win the Premier League last season. The Italian admitted he liked to temporarily bask in the glow of last season's triumph and briefly forget the struggles of this year.

His side are hovering one point above the relegation zone after five successive defeats including a 2-0 loss at Swansea last weekend.

‘This year is a tough year,’ said Ranieri, ‘but it’s okay, we’re united and that’s very important. I like this season to think about last season, it was an amazing achievement.

‘I’m an old manager, I’m here (in Monaco) not to win something for me but to represent Leicester, the squad, the chairman, club, everyone.’

To pick up a team award, I would expect the manager and captain to attend the ceremony. It's hardly a two week break to Dubai. They'll be back soon enough.

We have problems at the moment, obviously, but this is not a big deal at all.

disagree. You have to take a step back sometimes and focus on what is a mountain to climb. Maybe it's a personal thing but celebrating last season when this season is on it's way down the toilet is a bit of farce. Wes has looked tired since Hull away. A midweek late night is not really what he needs. There needs to be someone somewhere in this club who says, right this season is now the focus. We'll reflect again and and for the rest of our lives once we drag this season out of the toilet.

Exactly this! Some of the comments in here are actually shocking! Probably left after training and will be back tomorrow for training. I can't safely say that CR was never seen scouting an opponent last season or ever! He has staff for that.

A one on one chat with his captain on probably a private jet for a couple of hours might actually have done some good.

A few of you lot need to pick your bottom lip up and stop sulking shit happens every now and again!

Meh. Everyone looks like they're off having a laugh tonight, half of them are at the o2 watching drake ahead of the standard Wednesday off.

not quite as embarrassing as Sunderland spending a fortune on a trip to New York mind lol

Yep. They don't give a shit.

Fine, go out, but no need to publicise it all over instagram.

The ignorance in here.....

The Laureus Awards are the biggest sports awards going. Of course we were going to send somebody and we sent the right people.

They're off tomorrow anyway. I'm as annoyed as anybody at our recent performances but people are being a bit thick if they think the way out of it is for the players and manager to sit at home thinking about nothing but football.

Really ffs they have enough on there plates. Send Top and Susan Whealan. Our season has been fvcked up with awards and stupid pre season games.

Has no one at the club realised it's all about football and the prem. But hey we are only fans as long as the cvnts enjoy the season don't worry about us and our feelings.

Only the Birch has put in more time than me and many others and less than a few.

Bring back real football and fvck the money off please.

Rosberg at least had the good grace to quit the sport before not bothering to try and win another title.

The Manager and Captain that took Leicester City to the single greatest sporting achievement in history are recognised and lauded by the rest of the world.

batman slap robin - That's not how we do things here

Sack em all, kill them, make them do laps of the pitch in their underwear...

They're not the biggest sports awards going, though, and they could have sent anyone, obviously. If the message right now is that last season counts for nothing, and if our future (under Ranieri, at least) depends on us focusing on the future rather than basking in past glories, then this is hardly on-message. Especially when the manager says things like "This season I like to think about last season" or whatever it was that he said.

No, it won't necessarily damage Wes's fitness or cause Ranieri to skip a day at the office, but Claudio's most fervent supporters seem to be saying that our predicament is less a result of his tactical shortcomings, or poor man-management, or transfer activity, and more a consequence of our players being demotivated by their success last season. So if last season is looming large over us this year, as it clearly is, and if some players - like Schmeichel, or even Ranieri a few days ago - are desperate for people to turn to the present instead of the past, then this sort of thing obviously doesn't reinforce the message.

If it annoys people on here who don't necessarily see things from the same point of view as Schmeichel, or whoever else is at odds with the manager right now, then imagine how it will seem to some of them.

Or, alternatively, we could keep defending all of these obviously daft decisions, which have predictably far-reaching consequences time after time, until we find ourselves in the Championship. Then when we read about one of our league-winning heroes saying that we should have spent less time dwelling on the past and attending award ceremonies or bleating on about last season this, last season that, we can just call them a treacherous **** and pretend that self-indulgent rubbish like this had nothing to do with it.

I always dreamed of the day we would pick up the  Laureus World Sports Award

It's a very prestigious event. Given the people what attend, I should imagine the owners were insistent on attendance
