somebum Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Usain Bolt and Simone Biles claimed the top accolades at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco. Eight-time Olympic sprint champion Bolt and four-time Olympic gold gymnast Biles were named sportsman and sportswoman of the year for their 2016 achievements. Britain's Rachel Atherton won the world action sportsperson of the year award for her downhill mountain biking feats. Leicester City won the spirit of sport award for winning the Premier League. Atherton, 29, became the first rider in history to complete a perfect downhill World Cup season and then won a fourth World Championship title a week later. Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri and captain Wes Morgan were in Monaco to collect the spirit of sport prize, awarded after the Foxes, 5,000-1 outsiders, won the Premier Leagueby 10 points last season. Bolt won three gold medals at Rio 2016 in the 100m,200mand 4x100m relay.
st albans fox Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 How many more friggin awards ? we should send ngolo to collect them - he is the only one of them worthy of any accolades at the moment!
The Horse's Mouth Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 they should reject them or turn up in a tracky. Disgrace they keep getting pampered, they're losers they should start acting like losers
Koke Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Morgan will celebrate that the only way he can - with a loss to Millwall.
SecretPro Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Bit embarrassing but nice to see then getting on. Should probably be at training though.
Babylon Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Ridiculous... all this shit should have been knocked on the head st the start of the season. Ranieri will turn up to the opening of a bloody envelope.
chrishlcfc Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Ranieri should be at Millwall tonight seeing our next opposition rather than collecting these awards which are currently rendered near enough meaningless.

Absolutely - this is totally unprofessional. Can you imagine ferguson attending an awards ceremony rather than watching the next opposition.
lgfualol Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Kinda embarrassing but we have probably been scheduled for months to pick up that award. At least send a decent player and not that clown.
AKCJ Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Only Leicester fans could be pissed off at winning an award. Another proud honour for LCFC.
crazyleicester Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Some idiotic posts in here. Whatever awards and accolades they have won, they earned them. It has nothing whatsoever to do with this seasons lack of league form. Im personally not concerned about them picking up awards as that boosts confidence, Im more concerned about players having contracts doubled and playing like shite. I saw a Barcelona performance against PSG tonight that reminded me of us this season. A bunch of so called quality players not bothering to play for there club and look what happens, they lose 4-0 and it could have been 8 easily. Our lot need to play for the club and the fans and stop acting like they can just turn up and win games.

maddog Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Morgan and Ranieri look happy on the picture. No sign of friction/unrest although that might be because they're surrounded by Usain Bolt, Rosberg and Michael Phelps. Wes is probably a bit starstruck bless him!

Who is pissed off at winning an award? What does piss me off is the fact we're utter dog muck and I'd rather the management and team forgot about last season and concentrated on fixing it.
st albans fox Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 I suspect this will make harris' teamtalk easier on Saturday. our manager has so little respect for them etc etc

I can't believe how complacent we've become as a football club...from top (no pun intended) to bottom. It's as though everything stopped as soon as we won the league. All planning, rationale, everything...just went.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Claudio. Have your free champagne. Enjoy.

Izzy Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 It's all for charity. Imagine the uproar if we'd snubbed the ceremony and not turned up to receive our award. Can't really fault CR and Wes for being there tbf Proceeds from the Awards directly benefit and underpin the work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation which supports over 150 community projects in several countries.[1] These projects have already helped to improve the lives of more than one-and-half million young people.

Uproar about awards not a single person knew existed until about 20 minutes ago? I'm sure nobody is naieve enough to think them going will make much difference. But we need to leave last year behind, that is an issue. The hangover from last season is a part of the reason we find ourselves in this mess. When we're in such a mess and the manager appears clueless about how to solve it, then it's ill judged... the club has ambassadors who can do this stuff.

Morgan has rum named after him. Phelps was done for drink driving I'm sure he was on the rum. Bolt has had his fair share of rum on Jamaica. So the odd one out is Rosberg who only drinks champagne.
