The only thing about this thread that surprises me (although actually, it doesn't really if I think about it), is how cheaply so many seem to give away their plus ones, or thumbs up.

'Doing the right thing' for who?

Ranieri? The club? The media? The footballing world at large?

This post is SO vague, based entirely on emotion, yet gets SO many people agreeing with it...

Meh

The right thing for the football club is to avoid relegation. If sacking the Don achieves that, then sobeit. Anything else is a side show.

It's quite specific….  It expresss exactly how I feel and and the shame I feel to be a City fan at this moment in time… you may not agree and I could go on to mention something like 'opinions are like a$$holes…'

but, the way I currently feel is that people who support this backstabbing betrayal are like a$$holes

i'll get over it in time and may even forgive other city fans for holding an alternative view to me, but, not at this very moment…

ps I like to give out rep points like confetti…. Have one from me :-)

I am well aware that I appear to be in the minority on this forum and all the old platitudes will be rolled out "it's a results business" "we're  now too big to risk going down"

However, there is such a thing as 'doing the right thing', something which I firmly believe in for both my personal and proffesional life.

Sacking the man who was fundamental (and no I don't buy the 'he got lucky' argument) in bringing our club the greatest success in our history - the football fairytale - the sporting miracle

Is that really doing the right thing?

We'll be (correctly in my opinion) viewed as the pariahs of world football...

You reap what you sew...  there'll be a lot of people saying "serves you right" if we go down...  I am not sure I could bring myself to disagree with them

I am not sure how I feel about turning up Monday...  I'll be there, but, it won't feel right...

Claudio was very loyal to those senior players this season who seemed to have turned against him. Shame they didn't repay that back on the field.

The PR at our club is a complete and utter joke and an embarrassment for a team in the Premier League and Champions League.

Taking away the rights or wrongs behind a sacking, we've yet again handled every aspect of an announcement in the worst way possible.

The players haven't been media trained, clubs who have sacked less successful manager have had players flooding in the tributes across their social media, it's a mark of respect and the fact not one player has is a complete and utter disgrace.

They thought it was a clever idea to delate the tweet and statement regarding their vote of confidence, it's not, you've made your bed now have the bollocks to lie in it, it's the internet and google caching exists you idiots!

They thought it was a clever idea to change our header photo to a picture of a team huddle 4 minutes before announcing the sacking of Claudio, a team that's just turned on their manager....

I'd happily stake money on the fact that this whole saga has wiped more value off the club and its reputation than relegation and an immediate return ever would have.

The club needs changing from the ground up, we need a capable PR team, a capable Digital Marketing team and a capable Recruitment team, because what's there at the minute is rotten to the core, inept and incapable of competing with those around us.

The owners and players should hang their heads in shame.  The players especially.  Trumped up, overpaid prima donnas - who started to believe they were better than they actually are.  Claudio and the club did their bit in rewarding them with new contracts and they repaid that with poor performances.  You can say what you like about tactics, but I rarely saw any passion or effort from the players this season and you can't hang all the blame on the manager's shoulders.

I feel ashamed and embarrassed to be associated with our club this morning.  We have gone from the most loved to the most hated club in the space of nine months.  All that good will from winning the title has gone up in smoke over night.

Like many of us older fans, I have put up with plenty of disappointments over the decades of following Leicester, but I really don't think I have felt as low as I do this morning.

Absolutely pathetic reaction to this sacking from the media and neutrals. We live in a generation of faux-heartbreak as if we owe him our life.

Here's an idea. Talk about Leicester without mentioning last season. He was taking us down and it's as simple as that. It was always going to be an extremely sad day when he left, but not half as sad as him taking us down. Does anyone think he'd have managed us in the Championship? I don't.

The press and media are turning on us because the champions going down was their big story. Might not happen now. It's ridiculous. Ian stringer this morning on the radio saying he had to break the heart wrenching news to his 10 year old son at 10 o'clock last night!!! WTF. They are using peoples emotions to create stories.

So the board listened to the players? Well, some of the players are allegedly keen on NP returning - something the owners are presumably steadfastly against, still. Will they listen to the players on that too?

Yes the owners listened to the players on which led to the Ranieri dismissal. From what I know not many players are keen are on the return of NP.

Personally that ship has sailed and sunk.

A bit embarrassed tbh now with quite a few rival managers defending Ranieri as well as managers overseas and the England Rugby coach.

Even David Luiz has shown Claudio some respect before a single one of our players... I mean seriously... not a single thank you, or just a picture... anything!!

How pathetic that you could be this emotional over a manager that lost the plot. Last year absolutely a brilliant year but to to call it a betrayal is ridiculous. He showed nothing in the way of a solution to the catastrophic collapse from last year. Had last year not happened and we had another 14th place finish and we are where we are now then these emotions would be a non factor.

We were champions and lost but one player and a whole lot more was lost it would appear behind the scenes which we may never hear about. Claudio was part of this failure and is responsible overall for our success and failure. If you praise him so much for winning the league then why not ride him for the crap he's given us this year.

Ranieri doing what he does best 2nd season **** up,always always gets sacked.so Ranieri won us the league but the players are getting us relegated! Got it.

I've chanted the name of many managers to show my support but I go to FS / KP to watch and support the players hoping for a win.

my trust in a manager is fickle, but my faith in our players is blind because at that moment that's all I have.

Christ, I can't believe this bickering. This is the time fans need to stay united. Nobody wanted Claudio sacked but there are things that Claudio did as manager that has led to us being in this position, it may be that he hasn't been able to manage the egos or it may be the changes in training, his tactics or whatever but it was enough to annoy several players and staff,  if it was just the one or two the rest of the team would have turned on them.

its the media that are hypocrites, trying to bring us down when he joined, gritted their teeth when we won, and now revelling in our demise.

the owners are trying to bring us more success, they're the Ines that have invested, stay united ffs.

The whole issue, from media trash, through to social media site and forums like this.

Nothing absolutely nothing has happened that was/is a shock. Martin Samual types can get off OUR story,

they have not had our history, our relegations, our small time successes, and definitely not our triumphs,

and noway associated with our greatest of all.BUT more so they havent felt this season pain and the true

hurt of finding it necessary, to release and sack our legend of legends.

That took character, to admit it, that took character from our owners, all football fans maybe hurting, but none

more than we foxes fans, we seen what we needed , Ranieris dream was to keep faith in the the ghosts of the past,

they failed him c and the club,

but lets cut the crap....the rythm of life caught up with us, too early for our liking, but our heroes and legends,

just didnt have anything left in the tank.Ranieri no matter how we honoured him , he failed to  see the signs and

react upon them, even deep into the campaign..

He !!! dont forget was being paid millions, also after a deserved bonus and rise

not to win again the title but, stave off any threats of relegation, with the best finances this club ever had.

To bring a few yrs stability. God I really wish he was still our manager, but he wasnt guiding us to anything like PL

safety.

The owners have invested alot in these last few yrs, why should they throw it all away, without at least

trying to prevent the historical fall. The cesaer of success, the manager of managers, was not holding up his end.

outsiders /media /pundits dare blame the club!!! , for at least attempting and trying 1st  to hold on to our dream before we  again can

push and take it forward....F ** K  THEM..!!!  ..If we fail, at least we tried, the sacrifice was at least spiritually one of our own.

My take is: There seem to be a lot of people out there who were disillusioned with football before Leicester/Ranieri gave them "hope". Now we're being slammed by the same people for making a pretty everyday football business decision

The owners has absolutely no other option but to sack claudio, is a no win situation for them, sack him and face the media and fans backlash, don't sack him we get relegated as the players don't want to play for him. name and shame the players whos not playing for the manager, shame them all, I will be singing Ranieri name loud and proud on Monday night, thank you for the memories and you will forever be in the hearts of all true Leicester city fans. I also feel for the owners, they have been great for the club and without them we won't be where we are, I love to know who the players are....

Sorry... really not following what point your making... we didn't finish 14th, we won it....  it was exceptional and I think it's a betrayal...  it's not pathetic... what happened was really really sh@tty and he deserved way better

There's no doubting that this season hasn't been good and that Ranieri hasn't got everything right, but, he wanted to put it right and should have been afforded the opportunity to do so... I've scratched my head and wondered why he's made certain desicions in the same way I did when he put Simpson in the team last year (for example)....  some you win and some you lose

He didn't want to go and sacking him was shabby

The whole football world fvckin seem to hate us right now and desperately want us to be relegated.

We've gone from everybody's second favorite club nine months ago, to now being the new Millwall.

Sad...

They were already glossing over the results and (secretly) expecting to see us going down. Fvck them.

He's the manager, he might not have hens picked every player. But he sure as hell would be involved in what positions and what type of player he wanted.

Did he but a 10, no.

New right back, no.

Quality CB, no.

Three positions almost everyone highlighted as needing looking at preseason. The type of players we brought in, mostly didn't seem to fit in terms of style for what we needed.

Mendy was nothing like Kante, never been a ball winner so why buy him. Why buy Slimani when we didn't play with a big man and had Ulloa as back up.

Maybe the days of good buys are gone, but least we should expect is a round peg in a round hole.

At best, the maneger (ranieri or 'whoever'...) is involved in recommending players he might want.  The rest is up to those who actively recruit and negotiate

Im fairly certain we made several approaches for a quality CB (ie Keane) but he rejected our offers.  l'll leave you to do the maths on that one (and the several other deals that fell through for 'whatever' reason')...!

(PS  agree with your views on Mendy and Slimani!)
