It happens, him saying it's not happening doesn't mean anything really.
City1884 Posted 4 May 2017 Posted 4 May 2017 I'm in no way "In the Know", but I do know quite a lot about players in Europe, and I can honestly say we have not a hope in hell of signing Christensen on a permanent deal. He is 21, and when he hits his prime at 24 onwards, he has the potential to become of the best CB's in the world. That is not an overstatement. Chelsea have him for the future. They have had him on loan at M'gladbach for first team experience at a decent footballing level, and he is really proving himself to be an asset in their side. I expect him to be pushing for a first team Chelsea place in 2 seasons time, if not next season. The only faint hope we would have is getting him in on loan, so they can test him thoroughly in the Premier League, however Chelsea don't tend to loan players to PL clubs too often, and we would need to pretty much guarantee him a first team spot to have any chance of making this to happen. My own money would be on one more year on loan at another European club, possibly even another season at M'gladbach. Sorry to piss on your parade guys, I would love him here as much as anyone, but it won't happen.

I've lost count of the amount of times that managers have denied being interested in players to then end up signing them. He's not going to say that we're interested in a player with four games left of a season.

Chelsea dismissed out of hand a bid by M'Gladbach of nearly £15m for Christensen on a permanent deal last summer? £50m for Van Dijk I can believe, but not with Christensen aswell.................. Do you honestly think Chelsea value Van Dijk at over £65million?...............
