singaporefox Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 He has an eye on every player that we have an interest in. Probably has an ally in the foxes camp. Was there an agreement of some kind that we won't go for the same players.
brucey Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 of course, he'd be aware of our targets from scouting them himself for years. No such agreement.
Grantham Fox Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 There was an agreement that for a certain amount of time Everton couldn't sign someone off us, weren't there?
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 I think it's probably the other way around mate, we have an eye on every player he's interested in.
Webbo Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 If you're picking players based on statistics and computer programs then everyone who uses that system will be looking at the same players.

dylanlegend Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 Let's hope he sees Musa as the ideal replacement for Lukaku

Gerard Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 I'd like to know why he was allowed to leave so easily? Was he just undervalued and the consensus was he'd done his best work. When a scout has picked Kante, Mahrez, Vardy, etc you'd think they were worth their weight in gold.

Thats exactly what I thought. Maybe i'm wrong but I never believed Steve Walsh had some sort of genius feel for signing the correct player?

He wanted to move back closer to his family and as you pointed out, had contributed to many successful signings over many years at LCFC. Had just achieved the pinnacle of winning the Premier League with LCFC and fancied a new challenge. I don't think when he told LCFC he wanted the Everton gig we said, 'go go now, we'll call you a taxi too we want to make leaving easy for you Steve'.

From the relevant quotes that came out after Ranieri's departure, and my interpretation of them: 1) The departure was 'fair enough from Walsh's point of view' --> Family reasons + the promotion into a DOF role were significant contributory factors 2) Players were unhappy that Walsh was allowed to leave too easily --> Ranieri could have put more effort into trying to convince Walsh to stay (although it might not have worked anyway) 3) Walsh's contract had some kind of release clause in it, as Everton had to pay us a couple million to get Walsh out of it --> We probably couldn't do much once Walsh made his decision

Very few of the players go on to be more successful after having played for us. Delaney, McAuley, Kramaric and possibly Heskey? Kanté?
foxy boxing Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 most of the clubs in the premier League will be going for the same pool of players anyway. every club watches every other clubs scouting department to see if they have found someone good, it's all about getting in there first and offering a good package to the players as to who will get them and where they will go!
Adster Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 I don't get this "New Challenge" bullshit people are on about. Even after winning the league, a big challenge with LCFC would of been to establish ourselves as one of the top clubs in England as it was obvious that we wouldn't win the league again. That's a project, a challenge, even after winning the league.
