Lionator Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 It's not technically a food but I implore anybody to find a worse combo than toothpaste and orange juice.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 Lamb and mint. Never understood it, lamb is my favourite meat but every food house ruins it with some minted accompaniment.
Webbo Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 I remember back in the 70s my mother tried a recipe. A lamb chop with a slice of orange on top. Wasn't nice.
Izzy Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 The worst food combination is meat and fruit. Gammon and pineapple = wrong. Curry with bits of apple or raisins in it = wrong Duck with orange/plumb sauce = wrong etc.etc. That is all.... Edit: Just noticed Webbos post above which sums it up perfectly...

Curry with bits of apple or raisins in it from the chippy on top of chips is the best thing in the world Duck with orange/plum sauce = I'll give you that. etc.etc. That is all.... Edit: Just noticed Webbos post above which does sound a bit rough in fairness I've fixed this for you buddy.

The Blur Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 Are we talking about viable and well known food combos in this thread? Some great shouts such as apples/raisins in curries but half of suggestions in this thread are too unpalatable to be realistic My penny worth but I know I will get assassinated for this- horseradish sauce with beef. It is like pouring a mixture of vodka, paint stripper solvent and mouthwash on your beef which will just result in the total annihilation of your tastebuds and ruin the taste of the meat!

Isn't piccalilli originally from India anyway?
Nick Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 Tomatoes Food of the devil. Good for cooking in things where you can't taste them afterwards. Baked Beans are fine as is Tommy K but a can of tomatoes - even opening them makes me angry. Offensive

isaidno Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 went to a restaurant in Budapest last year. Had a Wild Boar casserole, which came with a side of macaroni cheese. They didn't go together.

I thought that at the time, but it was their families who both said the ingredients and preperation are different. Since then I lived in India, and noticed only occasionally in Restauraunts, but totally different make up offered Like the chutnies. Then in north Pakistan I came across a shop selling Real large jars of the English version bought in by a customer expat, then freshly made in pots, but spelt slightly different.I then asked the difference, The one in pots were bloody hot, and some pots with slightly different veg or even fruit. Ditto in a Dehli and Chamba bazaars.... A few entrenpeurs even did a very spicey Natural version of HP , where they said the idea came from their English relatives...
