Last year Benalouane went from the losing to Walsall in the Checkatrade Trophy to drawing at home against Atletico Madrid in the Quarter Finals of the Champions League within 6 months. And now he can't even get in the development squad 4 months later!

(Someone please post a clip of that tackle against Burton...)

I don't think it's case of not being able to get in is it we've clearly just elected to keep it to youth players

3-0 loss, 21 shots to 0, what the **** are we wasting our time in this pile of shit for?

Will never happen but there needs to be a over haul of the coaching system at U23 level. To be fair to the U18s they normally do the job of developing the players like Choudhury, Ndukwu, Johnson etc. Getting them into the U23 squad early. It's when they get to U23 level they just stop developing.

Really poor, I find it hard to be too critical of young lads playing against a strong Fleetwood side but they really were poor.

Gordon put himself about but he was bullied by the centre backs, hoof ball may work against academy sides but not against men. Absolutely terrible on the ball and keeper was woeful. The full back wood did ok, but he was all effort rather than any ability.

Pointless really, missing our best under 21 players either out on loan or with international teams.

Just gotback from the match.. well it wasnt a match it was men v boys, the 3-0 defeat flaterred us Fleetwood were far stronger and apart from Hughes and Knight who were ok the rest were at best average. We didnt have a shot at goal whereas they pepperred ours, hitting the post etc, if we are going to contiue playing in this competition we need to play 2/3 over 20's, not a bunch of inexperienced headless chickens running about with lots of energy but no guidance

Honestly, what harm does it do? The club get to see the lads against men, lower league clubs get to run their over possible loan targets. Don't know why people get wound up about this.

Because it isn't at all to help anyone except the top clubs in the long run. It's blatantly obvious that this format was put together just as a stepping stone towards B teams / U23 teams playing in the lower leagues in future.

It destroys players . We have gone through this before . " winning breeds winning " .

Who's the flapper in goal?

To be fair to the keeper, he did make a couple of good saves to keep the score down but his decision making was terrible. Couple of occasions he should have come out for the ball and didn't, them for the second goal he came out and got nowhere near it.

Iverson is a good GK, surprised he wasn't playing.

I'm with Webbo. I think there is no harm in playing these games. Getting manhandled is a good experience and will put youths who think they are the bees knees back into work mode. The club also gets to see what it really has.

Not playing has no gains and it perpetuates myths. Losing changes methods/systems/players.
