Just taken the dog for a walk and have seen two separate albino squirrels. I've seen the odd one before but never two in such close proximity.

Well, lots of fledglings appeared over the last couple of days, Swallows, Robins, Song Thrushes, Goldcrest, Greenfinches, Goldfinches all fluttering around the garden. Young Sparrowhawk had a few unsuccessful attempts at a smash and grab on the Blue Tits.
Also found a Spotted Flycatcher taking food to its nest so obviously feeding youngsters.
I kept hearing a Curlew calling a few weeks ago and finally found the nest in a field above my house. I haven’t approached the nest as I don’t want to disturb them - they are red listed species and becoming increasingly rare (no breeding records in my area).
I’ve reported it to the national pest extermination , just hoping it’s successful.

Saw a leaf-cutter bee in our garden today carrying a piece of leaf nearly as big as itself.

Seen a few using the bee hotel and blocking entrance with leaf. Great to see.

We've some using the frame of a garden chair. The plastic stopper top thing is missing on one and I was confused to see a leaf dissappear into it. I remembered this thread and watched for a while, sure enough a few other bees and leaves followed.

You have a field above your house, do you live in a bunker?

Magpie visits our 2 bird baths. Has a bathe in the bigger one. Gets stale bread from somewhere, pops into the smaller bird bath gives it a good soak. Has a drink and eats the bread. Very smart looking bird the Magpie almost looks like he has dressed for the occasion so I'm honoured our establishment is up to scratch. Either that or desperate.

Failed at upkeeping my bamboo for more than two years. Plant is more thirsty than I expected. I also couldn't maintain lavender. Grows in other parts, greatly exposed to the sun. But not on my balcony.

Just seen a Jersey Tiger Moth in my garden feeding on Phlox. Sorry can't attach photo but is a lovely orange and black day flying moth. Not sure it's range is as far north as the midlands yet.

I've ordered a pond, in an effort to cleverly combine the two

I was in the process of planning one, until I broke my arm lol

Earlier this year I built two mini ponds using large plastic planters.

Spotted this mushroom in Bradgate Park today.

I've never picked/ate wild ones before but apparently these Parasol mushrooms are delicious.

Remember, folks:

All mushrooms are edible, but some mushrooms are only edible once.

I think (in the UK) there's only a couple that will kill you quickly, and several that will make you quite sick and most just taste horrible.

A favourite of mine is to slice a puffball like bread and fry it in egg, like French toast.
