That's a possibility. But for this window? It would be a terrible mistake to go to Roma.

You are unlikley to sign a better player notwithstanding, as no player who's actually worth £50m sees Leicester as an ideal destination.

 

It'd be different if you could offer him to play European football.

The Italian league is lame. Only one team that wins it. France and Germany the same. Spain has two or three max. The Premier League has six teams that can realistically win it year upon year. That's why it's the best league in the world (barring the champions 'league'). When we broke the mould and won the league, it only strengthened it. No better shop window than Leicster last season. The financial clout that we and the Prem now has, is what's keeping Mahrez with us.

Incentive is massive for Riyad to get his head down and play out of his skin and move to a huge club in January.

 

I'd be disappointed if we sold him in this window now considering the difficulty in replacing him at short notice.

But would it really? They have lived off the back of Totti for a number of years. Roma is Totti end of. Like I've said before, he is far too good to go to a mediocre league to play with mediocre players. No disrespect but your team is not a great destination for a player of Mahrez calibre.

We're far from ideal.

 

However, considering in recent history we have sold player to Chelsea / Psg / Spurs / Liverpool / Bayern / Juve, it's undeniable that playing for us at least opens options he won't have if he stays at Leicester. 

 

Mahrez knows damn well that he can't win player of the year once again. It's tough to improve your value when the perceived image elite clubs have of you can't get any better than what you are already.

I don't understand why he won't have the option to move to a big club if he stays with us. He's playing in a far superior league to Serie A to showcase his talents.

It's great as talented players after only 1 or 2 seasons have all ended up in top clubs. The kind of clubs that right now are not showing interest in him. 

 

I'd go to Barcellona right now if I were him but do they want him. That's what we're discussing.

You must be so proud to be a selling club bragging about your sales. But we don't need to sell our best players like yourselves.
