ronnup Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 In a game he should've shone in he dissapointed. He's already gone I'd say.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 He is going nowhere on that game. One decent corner in 90 minutes isn't enough I'm afraid.
AlloverthefloorYesNdidi Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Where are those people saying he's better than Coutinho? I'm not saying he wont play better for us, but that was a really non performance from him today. Nothing like 2015/2016 and everyone else played well
brucey Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 He had a decent game, just got repeatedly outmuscled in the first half by that big brute they got in. Looked like he cared at least a bit, moaned at the ref. I'd still turn down £50m from any club except Barca.

I was almost worried his heart was completely out of it. At least he showed up on time for KO

Should have had better game management just before half time, but had an assist and looked well happy for Shinji's goal.

And for a player who thinks he's too good for us, he was possibly our worst player today. Assist was from a corner. Good corner an' that. But still, not a lot to offer throughout the game
sdb Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Moments of brilliance and some of laziness and unnecessary selfishness. Teams still brick it when he's on the ball. I'd love to keep him. Would love to know what Simpson thinks!

It's an overreaction, it's short-sighted and it's exasperating. We must have been watching different games because he did nothing of note all game

Redouane Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Ayay this is getting tiring. Every time mahrez has a bad game, there is this argument. We all know mahrez is a luxury player. He does not always show up, but when he does... Well we all know what he's able to do. Mahrez needs someone like Kante so he can do his thing

roblcfc84 Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 I think Mahrez gets far too much of a free pass for consistently average performances - no doubt he has ability and when he is in the mood, normally at home, he is a special player but those occasions have been few and far between for a while now. Lost the ball time and time again last night in bad areas. Albrighton was far better last night and miles more consistent- technically as good no but I'd rather have him the team any day. For me, whilst he produces moments of magic and brilliance it's time to move on. I can't deny how good he can be but we are Leicester and we are not good enough to have luxury players in our team - we saw last night all 11 players need to be working hard for 90 mins and there's no escaping the fact that the second goal came from his mistake. I'm not singling Riyad out but I see other players who do far less wrong and at least give it their all - Simpson, Fuchs, Morgan for example and get slated.
Mungongo Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 The public statements he's made about wanting to leave has put him in a difficult position with the fans. if he does something bad he's 'not interested'. if he does something good he's 'playing for a move'.
NewquayFox Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 2 Arsenal players on him for most of the game so it's Simpson who should have made the most of the space, Mahrez is one of the most talented players I have seen in a City shirt but still he gets a slating, we will miss him when he's gone and Gray isn't a patch on him as his replacement .... Up the City....

Yep and there you have it.. If your agent is a muppet, there is a good chance he is going to feed you bad advice. Mahrez listened to his Agent, who completely mis-read this situation. With more muppets coming to the table in the guise of Monchi /AS Roma, this has just compounded everything. I can imagine RM is feeling very miffed. Just wish a sensible bid came in, like now so we can all move on and close this thread.
deep blue Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 I find it hard to assess Mahrez's performances. First, I do agree that Mahrez is arguably the most talented and exciting player we've ever had and I'd hate to lose that. Last night, a couple of positive bits of play (the corner and the through ball), but otherwise remembered for his constant weak play, losing the ball, and painfully for their 2nd goal (not showing awareness of how best to play for the team in defensive positions). On the other hand, he must crave for the sort of support Albrighton gets from Fuchs whenever he gets the ball. Simpson is so static by comparison. Much earlier in this thread someone pointed out how much it opened up for Mahrez when Dr Laet, for all his shortcomings, partnered him on the right. It would be interesting to see him switched to the left, whether he would benefit from pairing with Fuchs (or we sign up a more dynamic right back).

Realist Guy In The Room Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Shouldn't play him on performance let alone this transfer bullshit.

But if he smashed Brighton scores 3 sets up 3 he will be world class. His worth on here will be 200m and all will be forgotten untill the next game.
