His market value actually has increased because the market has become super-inflated. That said, his value to Leicester is up to the board or any release clause in his contract (I don't believe there is one). The quoted figure of £50million Leicester want for the player, as the holder of his contract, is the only real 'value' that matters.
Nalis Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Another possibilty- Mahrez doesnt go in the summer which gives him the kick up the arse to have a stormer until Jan when one of the teams still in the Champions League comes in for him for an inflated £70m.
KingsX Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Seven pages since last night -- I was afraid something was going on. Just more trading piss with somebody who calls himself "Flavor of Mahrez". I don't even want to think about the "flavor" of Mahrez, bud, and I think your obsession is a little ... uncomfortable.
the fox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 I was more than comfortable not knowing what sapore di mahrez means, @KingsX! Thank you for ruining it for everyone
ozleicester Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Optus sport are showing the City V chelsea game from 15/16... just watched THAT Mahrez goal........................

I wouldn't take Lemar over Mahrez either, but if a hot prospect like Lemar is what elite club seem to be wanting these days what can we do? Expectations are high as well, so it's bias coming from expert around the league who think that you can't do any better after you've peaked already. In addition, when you take into account that former Roma players who have proved less than him are all playing for tob clubs now, you suddenly realize that moving to our club (with the aim of attracting a better club in the near future) is actually a smart move because we're not even reluctant sellers. Obviously, I wouldn't be making this argument if Salah, Rudiger, Marcos, Benatia, Pjanic, Lamela weren't playing for Liverpool/Chelsea/Psg/Juve/Spurs already.

In this time and age where a lot of players are stronger arming their club, this is a very professional act from riyad. Hmmm, that's the version we get to hear. Don't forget that Mahrez made the statement about leaving the club in the first place, seemingly without consulting the club first. Something Shakespeare addressed recently and admitted was a regretful act. Mahrez isn't stupid, nor is the club or any other club with lurking agents. Mahrez has effectively knocked off a few million off his price, because buyers will rightly pressure us with the 'do you want an unhappy player?' ploy. Mahrez and the club have an image to uphold, so it would only be counter productive to throw is toys out of the pram and not act professionally. 42 minutes ago, the fox said: Exactly, this 4-4-2 will never work to it's best without him. I say try to do what other PL teams are doing, just build a chelsea-lite, Marc can me moses, Ben can be Alonso. Harry can be David luiz, n'didi can be a close version of kantè, riyad can be hazard, and kelechi/vardy can be Costa. Its not far fetched if you ask me No disrespect meant, but you don't tell me that he the same kind of help as the other top 5 wingers in the league who all have : a full back that can overlapping and a quality CM/CAM that can play fast 1-2 passes with and another winger on the other side that demands the attention of the other team. Our style was set up to counter at lightning quick speed, not a possession-based, fullback-overlapping tactic. We mainly had two-on-twos or three-on-threes at best, so fullbacks weren't needed to support. This obviously suits Mahrez as he struggles to deal with deep-sitting defences. Don't think the 4-4-2 should be written off, but mixing it up with a 3-5-2 a la the Great Escape/Chelsea would be ideal. My main worry with the 3-5-2 is that we look extremely vulnerable past the first press as e.g. the return leg against Atletico showed. 53 minutes ago, SaporeDiMahrez said: If after a title / a POY award / great individual perfomances in the last CL Roma is still only team after him, what makes you think staying at Leicester will benefit him? How can it better his image if he doesn't change scenery? As for the wages, I have no idea. I'm guessing they'd be offering him the same wage of Dzeko and Nainggolan - around 5m per year. So Roma is the only club to bid for him so far. I believe there were enquiries last summer, but Mahrez promised to stay for the CL. It's not like there is no interest in Mahrez, as much as you want to tell yourself that. I completely fail to see how a 'change of scenery' is going to enhance his value and reputation, especially if it's a sideways/backwards move. And if he cannot get a move to a bigger club, then why should he willingly accept a decrease in wage? He's settled here, knows that he is highly valued and virtually guaranteed a starting spot and bags a helluva lot of money each week.
The whole world smiles Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 This Monchi fella makes me laugh... Its like he has never negotiated a transfer before. He has said this is the very last bid about 4 times. anyone knows even if your buying a house, a car or a world class winger that if you come back after a final offer is knocked back you look weak and loose credibility. Also he is trying to bully boy the deal through anyone with half a brain cell would realise that this is not the way forward because: 1. We do not need the money. With our owners and recent success we are one of the richest clubs in the world (Top 25). 2. Mahrez is not desperate to sign for Roma (If it was Barca bidding 32 million do you think he would still be training?). 3. he has 3 years left on his contract. 4. Mahrez is still being professional and has played well in pre season. basically in a nutshell we are holding a lot of cards at this negotiation, roma hold 1 or 2 but are behaving like they have them all.

As much as I think kantè became overrated by many, his ability to intercept the ball in midfield and get up the field fast is second to non IMO. The team struggles because we don't have many players that are comfortable on the ball but I think for 3ATB, its very realistic. Simmo-huth-harry is a quality defense. The biggest problem is the lack of a box to box/CAM, if the management can get win, 3-5-2 would work amazingly.

SheppyFox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Roma will not increase their offer for Leicester forward Riyad Mahrez, according to the Italian club's director of football Monchi. The Serie A side are reported to have seen what would amount to a club record bid of £32million turned down by the Foxes. Arsenal don't want him so we've got him until January atleast? Unless bagodicks spurs buy him.

You seem to have some kind of obsession, you have posted over a hundred times about one player ffs. I hope if you get him ( for the right price ) you get a poty player or I think it will be white coat men for you my friend!

Salah hasn't taken a crack, Riyadh has smashed it and won poty for his efforts. Even then it doesn't really matter - based on fees for the PL £50m is reasonable, likewise as an asset to us and what we'd need to replace. Don't like it? Find a new target. Our valuation is all that matters, and if Roma aren't willing to meet it then they need to stop wasting our time.

Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Apparently Roma got all indignant and said "there will be no more bids, that's the highest ever in this clubs history". What a pointless comment. If Port Vale had offered us 900k that would be the highest in their clubs history as well. Are we meant to be honored that the great Roma have deigned to be less tight wad than usual. Jog on Roma.
