25th Aug 2016 - Signs a 5 year contract and says he wants to be here for a long time.

31st Aug 2017 - Signs for Chelsea lol

Not bothered to see the player leave, not really be missed opening 3 games and hopefully Silva will be announced - just don't like players who make these kind of statements and then do the opposite.

Agree - just don't say it!

Timing of the transfer request and manner of his exit takes some of the shine off his time here too imo.

Still, great player for us on the whole. Best of luck to him, will be watching with interest.

Oh well Danny, you had a good career. Hope your arse doesn't get too numb sat on the bench 90% of the time.

Not that bothered, to be honest. Not overly emotional over this transfer.

It was always a potential scenario that our title-winning team would get ripped apart sooner than later.

Our success has raised the interest from other Premier League clubs and key players have gotten more options, as they've become more sought after.

Same applies to Drinkwater.

I'll always remember Danny for what he's given on the pitch, for his hard work, for being a major element during our promotion campaign and for playing through last season with an injury. That deserves respect. To spend five years at the same club is very loyal these days.

Only minor disappointment is the way he behaved lately in order to force a move.

Funnily enough, that somewhat coincides with Matty James coming back from injury.

Thank you for all you've done for the club, Drinky! Wish you all the best at Chelsea - but only time will tell whether you've made the right move or not.

How Danny Drinkwater has sold for more than Kante I will never know

Transfer fees are rising on the whole with every new transfer window passing - don't ask me why. We could discuss this for hours.

If Drinkwater had been sold at the same point in time as Kanté, he'd have gone for £20m maybe.

A right result here, 35 million for an average premier league player.

He had one stand out season, and other than that, has been a good servant, but never set the world alight, 35 mill is a great bit of business

Sad and gutted to see him go. He's been amazing for us and he's the greatest midfielder we've had. Hopefully in the next few days he'll thank the club and most importantly the fans. Very happy for him because he has got a the opportunity to financially secure the future for his kids (something we all aspire to do).

What's annoyed me in all this is the fact we've kept being told he's injured.... Absolute nonsense. After the moenchengladbach friendly shakey said he'd be 10 days or so and then we never saw him. The move has obviously been on for some time but it was Chelsea not agreeing to pay up until last night when other options failed

Danny playing alongside Willian and Hazard ?... he's just technically not good enough and could be a bit embarrassing for him tbh.,

particularly when you also factor in Fabregas is on a different level to Danny and he is essentially just back up.

Anyway thanks for the memories Danny and the best of luck .... because you'll need all the luck you can find.

I genuinely wish him all the best. What a terrific player he's been for us.

It's so sad to see that formidable 15/16 partnership broken up but he's earned the right to play for a bigger club, considering what we got him for in 2012.

All the best Drinky.

He did have reoccuring hip problems in 16/17 and then suffered a thigh strain in May:

Hardly anything suspicious about it.

Yes fair enough but he happened to get injured again before moenchengladbach round about the time he was first linked with Chelsea, not convinced he's been injured since

Being a  good player for us over the years but players do move on.

It's alot of money for him and we have held out for an amount the club was happy to accept.

Overall the window has being quite a good one for us so hopefully the players we've signed perform :)

Big loss imo.

I don't like how he's gone about this though.

Bit of an exaggeration, best we have had, Lennon and izzet are just two I can think that we're better.

Leicester city had already set him up for life financially, just the 5 year contract on over 100 grand a week would do that.

Got no issue with him leaving, we got the better end of the deal, think he will rot at Chelsea, we made about 34 mill on him, and paid 13 mill less for what hopefully is a good replacement.

The way he has gone about it is a bit shit, but couldn't careless he wanted to leave, there was other players that could of left, we couldn't have replaced so easy.

Bye Danny. I think we've done well out of this transfer but I'm still a bit gutted to see him go. Chelsea really are an absolutely vile club.

Sad to see him go but he obviously didn't want to be here and I don't think he would have just carried on and working hard if he didn't get his move.

If we sign Silva it's a good deal for all parties. 35m is loads for him.
