This comes across as enormously condescending and belittling if I'm honest and the last semi rhetorical question strikes me as monumentally ignorant.

There's a terrifyingly high percentage of transgender youth who are suicidal and have attempted suicide but a significant majority report being less suicidal after actually transitioning.

So I'd say, yes, establishing an identity someone feels comfortable with "makes them feel better about themselves." I'm baffled you need sources to spell that out to you, is it not reasonably common sense?

I've already said, probably multiple times in this thread, I do agree to an extent that gender roles are archaic and we'd be much better off without all these labels and rules determining how we view ourselves. Sure. But there's obviously a significant journey between where we are now and that point and we've got a significant amount of people currently struggling with a lack of love, support and understanding in our current climate.

Generic CIS white middle class conservative little Englander hand waving away their troubles like a walking cliché probably isn't all that helpful.

But what genitals do they have???

You are weirdly obsessed with people being weirdly obsessed with genitals.

Are you OK?

They do have the right in law to refuse to accede to such requests as GC beliefs are a protected characteristic.  You would imo have to be fairly prickly person to want to though - in person at least.  However I would agree with others that if you are going to say committ a horrible crime as a man and then decide to become a woman for your own benefit then you deserve no such respect.

Right, it's not against the law to be an thoughtless unempathetic arsehole, and nor should it be.

It might be nice if more people actually made the effort to not be that, though.

I’d rather be in a relegation battle than sat comfortably in 13th. Adds a bit of spice.

In a curry, yes, like a bit of spice. In football, no. Unless, it's a title challenge. A relegation battle, no chance, bring me a chicken Korma :D

If there wasn't such a massive gap between the divisions and the Championship wasn't so notoriously hard to get out of I'd maybe agree.

The idea of getting sucked back in to it now though is horrifying.

People who like to pretend it's a more exciting league to watch are full of shit. The quality is awful, I don't want to go back to that muck.

Agree. Back in the pre premier league days you could just sigh and think we could get back up without too many financial consequences in the meantime. Those days are long gone

Haha definitely not. I’m shitting myself but I do prefer football when there’s something on the line.

I see your point but I could do with a nice comfortable time

It's not like we've been lacking excitement for the last few years. I think we've had more than most!

In relation to the Player of The Match thing - I'd hope most football fans don't give a sh*t about such an easy thing to change and are happy to change it if it makes the game more inclusive.

If I can do something easy to make someone feel more included I'm gonna do it and not get pissy about their life choices. I'm genuinely staggered how triggered people get at these things, no one is telling you to identify any differently. I don't personally understand it but at the same time I'm grateful for that because it means i've never had to worry about it, so who the hell am I to tell anyone about how they should identify.

Problem is that some folks think that they are being told this, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.

I'm still trying to understand why, beyond something to complain about/wanting to claim faux victimhood. It's not a zero-sum game, after all.

Yeah, same lads who give it large online about it being a league for "proper football clubs like us". Is it bollocks, and it's an absolute slog of a season too unless you're top of the tree for most of it.

Add in:

- Uncapped away ticket prices

- Even worse TV kick-off times

- Games practically every other Tuesday in the winter

The only thing better is the lack of VAR, but that's not worth the trade-off for the dross you're regularly faced with on and off the pitch - and they'll probably implement it in that division soon enough anyway.

Most "proper football clubs" charge ridiculous pricing too. We'd be getting stung for about £40 a ticket away at Sheffield Wednesday on a Tuesday night.

It's why I stopped doing some aways when we were in the Championship. No way was I prepared to pay £37 for Leeds away, as much as I love going to Elland Road.

What does 'proper football club' actually mean, in the eyes of those that toss the phrase off?

OK, so it's mindless inverse parochial snobbery then?

Just wondering when I can use that one ..  mind you I suppose it would be better if I knew what it meant first ..

And can't face the fact the likes of Bournemouth are better than them now.
