Who do you want for Right back

We 100% need a right back who is both good at attacking as well as defending. Our right side is completely gone without an overlapping defender. Worked great in the PL winning season when we countered but now teams are more inclined to sit back on us

It would certainly make sense to have this kind of alternative option at RB particularly when we are at home and should be on the front foot.

Simpson has been solid, yet again, all season.

Most games he is playing against two because Mahrez's inability to defend.

We concede down our left far more than our right. Simpson is our best full back.

It works both ways though as Simmo doesn't support Mahrez going forward, leaving him with 2-3 players on him whenever he gets the ball and not being forward enough to take advantage of the free space this mismatch creates.

Yeah agree.

Simpson is just a proper old fashioned full back. It's defensive first, that's a good thing. He is absolutely solid. But I also think lacks composure on the ball and the technical ability going forward.

Nothing wrong with wanting an improvement on Simpson.

Everyone feels the need to rush in and defend the guy but if we had the chance to sign someone who could both defend AND lend something to our attack then why wouldn't we all want that?

Simpson has been an absolute work horse for us, no doubt, he deserves his title winning medal. But for all we cry about Mahrez offering him no support, the one thing everyone forgets to mention is that Simpson gives Riyad no support.

We would be much better served with a right back who can actually trap a football, find a pass, put a good cross in, run an overlap, get to the byline, be an outlet, give us some width.

I think Simpson has done pretty well this season. He's an average prem RB and consistently so. I've always wanted an upgrade but I don't think he's playing badly at the moment. For me his big problem is that he thinks he has something to add to the team in the attacking third and he doesn't. He's purely a defensive RB. To add insult to injury when he goes forward he insists on staying ahead of the ball after it goes backwards and doesn't run back to cover his wing.

TBH we really do need a formation change. Our 2 mad midfield is no longer good enough (hasn't been since Kanté left) and we need to play 3 in midfield. With Mahrez disappearing over the last year and a half and us not playing big men up front we really should get rid of the 2 winger formation too. This would then allow Mahrez or hopefully Gray or Iheanacho a free role behind Vardy. To do this I'd sit both Simpson andFuchs and play Albrighton and Chilwell as attacking backs. I'd not always play with 3 at CB in this formation either. against some teams - those that play a solitary striker (especially away from home) we only need 2 CBs which would allow us to be even more attacking.

We are a team that needs to go all out attack in home games especially. That is when we play our best football.

Simpson probably our best defender yesterday along with Morgan. Chilwell and Maguire both frustrated midfielders forced into defensive roles. Bring back Huth and Fuchs ASAP this porous defence is getting annoying now! And after one decent game against Brighton our new centre half should not be described a future England Captain - he has cost us far more goals this season than DS

Because it was so much better last season with Fuchs.

Fuchs is finished. move on.

Maybe you want Steve Walsh back in central defence? Maguire is a young talented player and you want old dead men back in.

Huth was our saviour in the survival year and our rock in the title winning year. He's now old and hurt - he can't even get over this injury despite playing in u23 games over the last month.

ffs  we're running out of players to start a "rip to shreds" thread on......

or maybe people are realising that we need to change how we play so need more from the right back than Simpson can offer

Correct Simpson is limited but surely he is the least of our problems

Urgent work needed on shape tactics and selection

Not Simpson

might not be urgent but it doesn't mean we should stop looking to improve incase an opportunity presents itself
