Looks to me that someones already nicked the light fittings.

Hope not! As I've just booked in for a night with the Mrs.

Shame they went for a simple Steak restaurant....A restaurant with more imagination would guarantee a regular,

turnover of quizzical outside custom, and give guests a reason to spend money on site..

There are enough grills around the shire. Though the events should guarantee, Birthday, wedding, anniversary turnover,

with overnight stay...

I've seen around Europe, various "good steak" restaurants peak then fade out, a  short fad, then close against too many

in same town area, or simple fact Steaks have no price flexability, they stay high...

Chinese Indian buffets, serve the masses at various price ranges, and importantly food-choice...and run for 30+yrs.

In Italy, I came across 2 good restaurants/bistro, that pulled away from the Toscana tradition.

Florence steak, still high on their big selling plates, but also a mix of damn good veggie and vegan dishes, not

vegatables thrown on the plate, just for the sake of it, but served and presented with imagination.

and I am a typical T-rex meat eater.

There is a place for good steak restaurants, or ones who have just 1-2  steak nights but in todays world,

there are for new businesses, a new generation where couples or groups, look for restaurants with diversity,

because todays restaurant goers, eat totally different dishes than their mates and relations on the same table.

outside young male macho groups, on a good night out, I suggest today finding couples and big groups just eating steak, would be more difficult, than 5-15yrs ago.

Even the pizzerias, dont just stick to Pizza.

Just a thought...

And you !!!

My mum and two brothers live in Braunstone. Parts are ok, but the area where Braunstone Hall is, whilst not the worst (I'm looking at you Hands Ave and Bendbow Rise), is hardly upmarket. If you like the sound of people riding past on quadbikes and the smell of burnt out cars, with the added uncertainty of travellers being escaped less than 100 metres away, fine go for it. Of course, I'm exaggerating, but not much - any and all of the previously mentioned occurrences could happen with not much raising of eyebrows by the locals.

Which is a shame, cos Braunstone Hall is a very nice building in very nice grounds.

Soulsby is no mug, in fact he is doing a very good job and is working hard on making Leicester a much better place.

Here is yet another good bit of Soulsby work. “Sold off” what he knew is a historic building that unfortunately is in the wrong place.

The buyer would have got it for buttons, the problem is off Soulsbys books and the buyer “thinks” he has a good deal.

99% of people in Leicestershire (the new owner must be the other 1%) know Braunstone, and there won’t be many of the 99% that would wish to have a night out in the heart of Braunstone.

Its a wedding venue, and again I can’t imagine many outside of Braunstone want to arrange their special day here.

Nice venue, wrong location, it just doesn’t fit and those that live in the area will know that too.

Soulsby himself has said he was surprised it wasn’t even more vandalised than it was and I agree with him.

Not sure who the new owner is, but I wish him well, he is far braver than I am and I wouldn’t put a penny into this venture.

Wasn't the new plod shop opened in Braunstone a few years ago vandalised, maybe even several times, before the fuzz even got the chance to move in?!! What chance does Braunstone Hall have to be anything slightly upmarket. Steak is a realistic level to aim at considering it will not appeal to the wealthier punter. Still think it will change hands within a couple of years at the outside.

You put an extra 0 in your percentage figure.

Is there a more rougher street than Narborough Road in Leicester?..

Seems like every day or so there's either a fight going on, car accident, drug-arrests etc.

The new owner already owns City Rooms in town, he knows what he's doing.

I know he owns City Rooms, but I still don’t think he knows what he is doing.

If he gets this right, it’s luck more than judgement, together with a slice of I got it for bugger all anyway.
