So losing most of the games in August and September is ok, then? October turns into November and then December...at what point do we start to be concerned that our weird hoof ball isn't actually producing anything positive? Doesn't matter what month it is...we need to win games and have looked devoid of anything approaching form or confidence. I want to be excited, inspired and enthused at the stadium, not frustrated, angry and bemused. Bottom 3 Cheers pal, I know how calendars work. Of course we "need to win games", every supporter, manager and player of every football club in the whole wide world knows that no matter what situation they're in. My point is that it's absolutely fvcking stupid to get so wound up about a situation we find ourselves in this weekend because Sky saw it fit for us to move our game to a Monday night. If you want to be "excited, inspired and enthused" show a bit of that enthusiasm back tomorrow night. As it is, because of this weird mentality of assuming we've had a shite weekend before we've even kicked off I'm fully expecting a horrific, tense and nervous atmosphere tomorrow night which the players will pick up on and, in all probability, will contribute to a negative result. 1 hour ago, Cardiff_Fox said: As a positive supporter, you became bored of the same arguments and going around in circles. The big club results thing a fine example. Palace and Hodgson win one game and it's used as an example. They were awful against Man United and Man City. Stoke praised for their results at home but they literally gave up at Manchester City. Its swings and roundabouts. It can be true assessed after 19 games if it's a problem. Its tiring when it's the same posters who show an expressed keenness in being proven correct rather than see the club succeed. Those that prefix their posts with 'I said back in April this would happen' My biggest point is that there is an air of negativity around the club. It will drag us down. Mistakes have been made but we need support and wins pronto to allow breathing space. If winning the league and reaching the last eight in Europe didn't change that attitude, nothing will. We're genuinely one of the strangest fanbases in the country.

When he's played Aguero and Jesus, he's still had a third centre back (albeit they have players with the ability to play numerous positions - so you've had Ferdininho play there). Jesus yesterday was upfront alone with Man City playing a back four. It was a bit tongue in cheek CF. point being he plays whatever formation he wants and it's often very mobile. He plays to his strengths. You would never see him send out a team to play like Jose did yesterday. Defending isn't Man City's strength. our strength is our intensity but we seem to have forgotten this and we need 2 cm's who can press together. For whatever reason, the two deployed there this season have been told to be more cautious. Imo, if you don't trust the two you have to be able to press together because of the gaps behind them then you have to have a third holding. that's the business area of the pitch. Makes formation changes elsewhere to compensate.

My expectations haven't changed. Winning the league was a one off - we can't even compare ourselves to Blackburn in '95 because at least they had finished 3rd/4th the seasons before - we came out of nowhere and won it. Deep down I know we are/should be mid table minimum. Stoke finished 9th for three seasons running. Why shouldn't we be aiming for that? I am more concerned with our performances at the minute. We are not exciting and very negative/boring to watch. And whether people like it or not, this reflects in the stands. It needs to change - we need a manager with a clear plan/idea, a new style, someone who isn't afraid to change and will play (attacking) football.

Because football doesn't work like that. We won the league despite spending a fortune, not because of it. And so what we spent cash on players? Big deal, so does the rest of the division. Absolutely baffling that we, more than anyone, would know that's no guarantee of success. End of the day, it's a shit attitude for supporters to have in our present predicament and not one which is going to help us get out of it.

I'm assuming Shakey's 6 week intense pre-season training consisted of "Wes, whenever you get the ball, hoof it as far as you can", "Huth, do the same"..."Kasper, you know the drill" Shinji "What about me, boss?" Shakey "Hmmm, not sure...run around for an hour and fall over...for every 20 falls we'll get a free kick...and one of the lads can hoof it over the bar" "Riyad, feel free to have a nap for 80 of the 90 minutes, and don't worry, I'll still pick you" Dragovic, Iheanacho and Iborra "What about us, boss?" Shakey "Who are you?" Reasons to be decidedly un-chilled in October - Needs to be much, much better. Bottom 3

Remembering that when you play three in the middle, you have to play with either 3 CBs or 1 upfront. All 7 league games he has had that option; plus the two cup games; I don’t think at any point we have only had two players who can play in midfield. There is 4-3-3, 3-5-2, 4-5-1 etc. Two in the middle simply is not working; we don’t get enough of the ball to give the defence any respite, nor are we able to give the ball to the forward players enough. That is a bad combination. This really is kids stuff, and if he doesn’t change the tactics he Is being a fool to himself. In a Daily Mail interview this week he indicated that he feels the players need to adapt to change; and they have to; maybe that’s a sign that things will be different from tomorrow? Also I would make the point that expressing the opinion that the manager is not the best on a forum does not mean that he and the team will be be supported at games;speaking for myself that is.

Drinkwater has moved on, his replacement is stuck in limbo. King takes an absolute beating on here yet he truly hasn't put in as shocking performance as many on here state, yet most have him down to have a bad game for the ball is kicked. It's hardly hoofball tactics we are trying to drop the ball into the channels when we're on the ball, other teams have played a high press on us and a lot of the time it's safer to get the ball back up the field and regroup rather than try and play it out and give possession away in and around your area. We have been lacking options lately and we should see a number of those coming back after the international break. Performances haven't been great, but how many managers currently and realistically available would have done a great deal better with their hands tied behind their back with the lack of options and injuries. Disturbing, really disturbing.

We shouldn't be happy with dog shit football though and a manager way out his depth who's shown absolute zero identity. What are his tactics, philosophy or way of playing? He's changed nothing and hoped for the best.

The way past that is a two way street, we react positively to a set of players, a system and a regime that we can get behind. It's nigh on impossible to accept the same mistakes we made last season, and a manager who seems intent on refusing to change and just copy what the two managers he worked under did. It's a recipe for failure and quite frankly I'm bored of the way we go about things. The whole club is in fairly poor nick.

Arsenal for example we had three fit CMs but we didn't have three fit CBs, so it would have been Vardy upfront alone. That was the case until the end of August. This was showcased against Sheffield United we had to play Fuchs at centre back and play N'Didi in central midfield when we'd have liked to have rested him. He can deservedly take stick from Liverpool at home onwards for not playing three in the middle because we had the personnel available.

For a football club (or even a "business" because I see a lot of people call it a business and the Thai's are obviously businessmen) to progress they need to replace staff (managers, players etc) with better. A great recent example would be Southampton who lost players constantly but got in better. We're not doing it - we've still got the same problem with midfield but now we're one less because we sold our only midfielder who actually went forward. Shakespeare did okay to steady us (although once we survived we started seeing cracks - performances were poor and we even managed to lose 1-6 at home) but he was never going to be the man to take us forward. If we get rid of Shakespeare and need a manager to keep us up then people will be calling for someone like Allardyce but we'd be in the same situation as we are now. We need a manager that has brand new ideas, a good style of play, not scared of changing and will play attacking football. I dunno, that post might be a load of rubbish, but I just feel like we're sort of stuck as a club.

There's a rebuild required here with surgery needed. Whoever had the managers role had a mighty task on their hands. Ultimately the fans have gotta accept the situation for now. We've gotta get some points on the board whilst doing well in the Cups. Shakespeare has a full squad at his disposal now. Four fixtures in front of him which will be the making of him.
