Kitchandro Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 If we don't win he has to go, surely no one can argue with that.

Dan Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 I'm not worried about relegation just yet, it's a bit too early for it to be taken seriously. In fairness the one favourable fixture at home we had, we won at a canter. But I am very worried that if we don't change something we will end up being pulled back into it again. It's horrendous what we've become. The absolute opposite of everything we were two years ago.

I agree, it is horrendous what we've become, especially when you consider the money we've spent(wasted) in the last two years.

Sir Shep Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 Well, this our level now unless something changes. I'd love to be proven wrong but I just don't see us winning tomorrow.

CosbehFox Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 Just watched the highlights from Palace and their crowd getting behind them, despite awful displays and poor comments from the manager. Jusging from this thread there are so many pre determined opinions the players will be lucky to have any support at all tomorrow night.

I was thinking this myself, which is why I started the Shakey/Nige thread. According to the bulk of this forum, Shakespeare is a dead man walking. The tide has turned so quickly against him. It also makes me wonder where the 'positivists' (for want of a better term) crawl under when we start to look poor and the forum becomes as it is now. The nearest stone, or so it would seem.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 Absolute drivel being posted by a large number of people on here, many of whom are not only predicting our current manager to fail but silently willing him to soothe their own egos and get someone else in. For those expecting Ancelotti you'll be bitterly disappointed. We've played 4 of the top 6 teams in the country, 3 of which we deserved something with the performance we put in, Man Utd being the exception. Brighton we got it correct although it would have been disappointing to have got anything other than 3 points. Huddersfield and Bournemouth we had one very poor half in eac game, the other half can at best be described as average, but we created chances in both games to go and win. Instead we settled for a point away which given playing Huddersfield while on a high and Bournemouth who we genuinely struggle against (same outcome as our title winning season) neither are bad results with points on the board. Performances haven't been great but we seem to forget we have missed a large number of players through injury and then some bizarre transfer sagas. Of course we have a lot of experienced physiotherapists, club doctors, sport scientists, recruitment officers and chief execs, and it's all pi$$ easy and those in the roles at a premier league outfit are out of their depth compared to the knowledge you seem to hold. Incredible that our fans are willing to turn on a man who has done so much for the club and has not only had to compete with a tough start on the pitch but problems off it.

It's not drivel though is it? Shakespeare sets us up so negatively it's unbelievable. 2 CMs every game which we know hasn't worked for Months. Playing Andy King, hoof ball tactics, giving Ulloa a new contract, settling for a point at half time against Huddersfield when it was 0-0 that's just off the top of my head. He gives us fans no confidence whatsoever, this is a continuation from Arsenal away last season. We've been shit ever since. Wake up ffs. he will be gone after the Swansea game imo

Inflexible tactics, bizarre substitutions , reactive rather than proactive game management , giving long term contracts to players we can see are patently not good enough for this level , presiding over a completely unbalanced squad where we have one of the best young centre backs in the league and more forward options than the three big London clubs but yet have a doggo midfield and no cover for a 30+ year old right back, starting games at a snails pace when we used to fly out of the traps.etc etc I hope Shakey can turn it round and learns from his mistakes .... but I wouldn't say some of the posters on here have been talking drivel.

Wake up ffs. he will be gone after the Swansea game imo What options do you have in the middle at the moment? We've been done by injuries to Iborra and James. Drinkwater has moved on, his replacement is stuck in limbo. King takes an absolute beating on here yet he truly hasn't put in as shocking performance as many on here state, yet most have him down to have a bad game for the ball is kicked. It's hardly hoofball tactics we are trying to drop the ball into the channels when we're on the ball, other teams have played a high press on us and a lot of the time it's safer to get the ball back up the field and regroup rather than try and play it out and give possession away in and around your area. We have been lacking options lately and we should see a number of those coming back after the international break. Performances haven't been great, but how many managers currently and realistically available would have done a great deal better with their hands tied behind their back with the lack of options and injuries.
mozartfox Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 If he selects usual bunch and plays 2 in the middle and we lose, then this will be a case of inviting a hostile reaction. If he considers this same old same old approach is the correct one, then I do fear for him. We need to change things to get momementum. It is so obvious to see.

Your defence of him is commendable I'll give you that, However, we do play long ball, that is a fact. Albrighton and Morgan the worst culprits because there is no one to pass to in midfield. Andy King. This guy gets lauded as a legend for his loyalty. He probs on 30-40k a week, He knows he won't get that in championship and knows his limits. Kingy has no influence on the game whatsoever. You could go 30 mins in a game and you wouldn't notice him.

My defence of him isn't specific to Shakespeare, I'd want to see us give any manager some more time considering the start we have had. My only annoyance is how he's being put about as public enemy number one by a number of people on here after all he has done for the club. As for King that exactly what your going to get, he's bang average at this level but he's not someone who will cost us points like some suggest on here, he's just not going to be the man to win them either. Again we don't have any option and we saw at the start of the season N'didi and James were preffered.
Legend_in_blue Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 He needs to make it more difficult for us to find ways to criticise him then. At the moment it's all too easy.
