TonyJamesLegend Posted 24 October 2017 Posted 24 October 2017 Shoot me down if required..... but im sure most GENUINE fans over the age of 35-40 will agree. (Im 43 by the way) We are and always will be a yo-yo club. Yes we won the league..... which lets be honest was the perfect storm but the younger generation need to realise it was totally against the grain. Maybe im a defeatist but having stood on the kop back in the 80s/90s at filbert street with just 7000 regulars attending I really am happy with just survival and the odd good cup run. I think winning the league as crazy as it sounds was one of the worse things that ever happened to us (Even though I would NEVER take it away as I will die happy) but.... we are a mid table team at BEST. We should really just enjoy premier league football, so many teams have just gone to the dogs.... Blackburn, Barnsley, Swindon, Bradford, Portsmouth etc. We need to be real...... survival is the key. Yes it may be boring every year but that is where we are at. A lot of people here will NEVER experience the feeling of Playing Oxford United JUST to stay up haha. And on that day...... there was a true Legend in Ally whom I was lucky enough to sit next to last week at Swansea!!! So please folks...... keep it real and live for today!!! #foxestillidie
Fox92 Posted 24 October 2017 Posted 24 October 2017 'Younger generation'? Mate I'm early 20s, home and away for the past 15 years of my life and 75% of that has been shit. You don't have to be old to appreciate where we are currently.
StanSP Posted 24 October 2017 Posted 24 October 2017 You know what I expect? A 43-year old adult to know the difference between 'your' and 'you're'.

totbl Posted 24 October 2017 Posted 24 October 2017 The difference is we have money these days, top quality infrastructure (or did have) and facilities. We should have ambition, and finishing 14th each year does not come into that. I'd rather have a go at it then become a side like Stoke or West Brom.

So many people on here expect us to be in the top four or winning the league! I’m not sure too many, if any, City fans actually expect that. It’s a pithy barb to aim at any fan who criticizes the club/manager/players but it’s not true. Im 37 and I don’t accept that we are destined to forever be a yo-yo club. But equally I in no way expect us to be in the Champions League every year.
boots60 Posted 24 October 2017 Posted 24 October 2017 I'll give you a tenner for your jacket mate. I went to buy a camouflage jacket the other day but I couldn't find one.

Was a great servant for our Club and was hard as nails. Reminds me of Begbie from Trainspotting. He's a top bloke by all accounts. But you're right I don't know who Ally is!

Spot on - it was eight years between league one and champions of England. I'm mid twenties - we went down from the top flight when I was starting secondary school, went down to league one while I was doing GCSEs and didn't return to the top flight until my final year of university. I've known us more as a lower championship side than I have a top flight one. You don't need to be old to remember when we were shit, we're not like Chelsea where an entire generation of fans will only be able to remember being at the top...
Carl the Llama Posted 24 October 2017 Posted 24 October 2017 We still had Sven in 11/12, you'd have to be younger than 6 to be too young to remember when we were shit

My earliest memory is being a four year old confused by the French - So, make it about 10.
