Appleton for the job

No, we need a manager the players can get excited about, a manager that knows how to select players from all over Europe and slot them in to the team. The players maybe performing to impress the new manager, it may have nothing to do with Appleton

I wouldn't mind giving Appy a chance, but truthfully I didn't think the last two performances were much different than those under Shakey (which I thought were pretty okay).. the opponents have just been more shit

Wait, are we seriously signing Puel? Arsene Wenger's Puel? Wow. We are going to have some turnover then.

But on the plus side....wingbacks! Who's up for some 4-4-2 diamond? Good thing we are so adept with little passing triangles, right? 75% possession and all that?

But seriously, his team at Southampton kept the ball on the ground, it would be a huge change. Sends his FBs forward, needs dynamic passing MFs paired in the middle, suppose Iborra and Silva can do that come January, and we'll fake it until then, then play Gray or Mahrez behind the two fwds? The fullbacks play the wings in his diamond, so no room for Gray and on the side, though I think Mahrez might get a look at a pairing in the middle with Iborra. That actually wouldn't be half bad, though it might not feature Mahrez.

So if we are thinking 442 diamond with marauding FBs and disciplined MFs keeping precise spacing for passing triangles, what about....

-------------Vardy--------Slimani----------

---------------------Gray-----------------

------Iborra ------------------Mahrez---

---------------------Ndidi----------------

Chilwell--Dragovic-Morgan-Maguire

That actually would not be bad. Iborra and Mahrez control the ball in the middle, passing triangles, etc. Ndidi blows up anything coming his way, gets the ball to either Chilwell or Maguire who initiate the attack. Pass pass pass, other side overcommits, we pounce. Yeah?

Honestly, this might be the best use of our personnel I have seen considered. It would allow us to field our most talented side, certainly, and we have nice back-ups on the wings in Fuchs and Albrighton, we move mahrez in January and Silva either plays in the middle or up top, he and Gray sort it out. Eh. We could do a lot worse. Big frickin' change with no camp though.

It won't happen and nor should it, yes we've won both games but Leeds were rubbish tonight, they didn't challenge us at all apart from that goal.

No point in getting carried away with it after two games, and the owners want a big manager with experience and surely the pulling power to attract decent players...

At last, someone talking sense

Appleton has publically stated he's not going for it

In hindsight, Shakey's appointment seems such a gamble. It made sense at the moment at that time in the season and I had hoped he would somehow do well, but here we are. Let's not repeat the same mistake, Appleton seems a top bloke, why spoil him forever. I trust the owners on this and I'm grateful they didn't wait any longer with Shakey's sacking, at least now they can pick for a while before they choose.

Whilst I really like the change in emphasis, and some of the things we have seen suggest he really isn't a hoofball man at all, he won't get it.

He actually said (after the game) tonite that he thinks Amarteys best position is at RB, because he rarely gets beaten in a one on one! :o Talk about seeing something that others don't see, I have never heard anyone, anywhere even suggest that might be true.

Hats off to Apples, he has shown his class this week. Shakey did well to get him in.

Our multi million pound ballon d'or players just beat Leeds B team and a poor Swansea.

We hired Shakey after his dead cat bounce smashed some of the premier league's finest in his first five matches and got us to the quarter finals of the champions league.

Appleton does have more experience than Shakey admittedly, but once bitten twice shy - even with three extra games.

I'd like to see us try though simply because English talent is rare although it's massively reckless and it's exactly what I said about Shakey too.

Appleton's best chance, other than doing a Rudkin, is that no-one wants the job here, but then if he does do well it'll make Leicester look a better proposition. He could go around every suitors house and threaten them, though. Would probably work.

Better CV than Shakey and good to keep. Maybe one for the future. Still believe we need an experienced head honcho not a Rudder
