Appleton for the job

Long-term, who knows? If he stays as assistant under Puel he could be the next manager after him.

He somewhat rebuilt his reputation at Oxford after previously taking jobs at clubs on severe downward spirals.

When he first went into management there were some very good things said about him.

But, the job has become available too soon for him. He's happy as assistant, which he's stated a couple of times now.

Let me rephrase, let’s learn from every number two ever, slotting into the number one role at their current clubs, being crap :)

I know what you mean just got the wrong end of the stick pal

Honestly though, I don’t know who I’d like in charge, I’d say Pellegrini but I can’t see it. Really not sure :(

He should stay as assistant, having a good, consistent coaching set-up has worked for us before when Ranieri arrived (and that's why it is a shame Shakespeare has gone completely). The players have responded to him in the past week so keep him on and allow the new manager to settle in whilst gaining knowledge from those already in place.

Same. If Apple was given the job I can see him gone by January. Would love Pellegrini. Is it going to happen I doubt it.

Haven’t we been there before and it didn’t work out, even tho I like the bloke I feel we need a manager with a certain quality a manager that has seen it done it got all the tshirt etc etc ?

Appleton is a great leader and it shows he is passionate but we need something with that certain je ne sais quoi an Ancelotti Pellegrini or even Dyche and we need to sort it out soon before the Toffees gazump us !!

MA has said he would like to see out his contract as assistant . No reason to believe that shouldn't be taken at face value .

He looks like he could make a contribution to the club in the support role  rather than take the flak that managers inevitably attract

As most things in life it is very easy to be something someone isn’t but standing on your own 2 feet and actually building something unique based on your own qualities is a lot harder. It’s a no from me, he’ll/we’ll be better off with Appleton as the no.2

Appleton has been at the core of the improvement , but may just get pipped to be manager. If he does leave it will just be another Appleton Over.....(Ill get my coat)

I wouldn't give him the job but would want him to stay on as assistant. It would be very harsh on him if he was sacked.

Must be kept on as Number 2.  Need to overhaul some other coaching positions to freshen things up in tandem with the new Manager. Plus the academy needs looking at.

Scouting and recruitment needs to visit Holby General. Major surgery required.

Talk of him getting the top job is just plain daft but I really hope Puel (if it is him) has the good sense to keep him as his number 2 as he's clearly a very good coach. Would be disappointed if he's binned off.

Got to love football fans, you win in the league against a very poor Swansea side, beat a lower league team in the cup and suddenly people think he's the man for the job.

Shakespeare was the first British manager to win his first 4 premiership games and who can forget seville, now I can understand the call for him to be manager...and we know how that turned out.

So lets just chill and get a little perspective.
