He's still been great, offers so much to the team even without the goals, sign of a top quality striker. We're lucky to have him.

I used to say the same about Emile Heskey playing for England but he would get slated!

643 years i have been waiting for an opportunity to say this....

He has, he does, and we are.

However, I’m not sure that he suits the style of play that Puel wants.

Palace totally out-thought us on Saturday and it’s likely now that other teams will follow suit…

I wouldn’t be totally surprised if Puel goes into the January window looking for another striker.

He is still great but with 2 goals in 13 games I'm pretty sure a £20mill striker we've got will be knocking on the manager's door asking about more playing time.

Vardy needs Shinji.

Vardy is twice as dangerous with Shinji as the workhorse.

I love the flair players but you have to make room for the most intelligent player at the club.

Hope the goals return soon.

Currently has 2 goals in 13 games for Leicester. We're at our best when he's on song.

Only three goals in open play since the first game of the season

Under Puel he won't score a lot. The other forwards will because his role has fundamentally changed. He's doing an amazing job forward and shouldn't be judged on the number of goals he scores .

= 5 from open play this season? Or don't the 2 against Arsenal count on his tally?

he is doing a very good job but he needs to score! off-ball he is working hard and stretching defences

he is a goal scorer and he needs to have his goals. i don't know if it is ust me but, he get's a bit faster/sharper after he scores. with time, subconsciously, the work rate will drop  because he isn't just a work horse.
i said this on another thread, puel in a year or 2 will fade him out of the starting 11 because he doesn't offer enough on-ball in favoure of a jesus-esque player. he is still one of the first names on the team sheet so he won't be dropped (at least this season)

I think he's  been off his game, he's  missed chances where he would have scored in the past and his link up play has been a bit off,  probably lacking some confidence now so needs a goal or 2 to get his game back on track.

he is now a decoy (a la julio jones the nfl player).  he shifts the defensive assignments, create mismatches and allow players to have space

Yes I understand that but it is not necessary to drop the first game from the tally just to make his stats look worse.

but still, 3 goals from the last 17 game weeks (5 with pens) isn't exactly up to his standards. we are moving away from vardy-ball, others benefited greatly (gray, mahrez, shinji and gray) while his numbers took a hit. would take that deal everyday of the week.

goals will come, he only needs to keep his workrate up

Yes agree mostly. I'm not unduly concerned and expect him to be back on the goal trail very soon. He is our talisman and his desire and ability will come good for him/us.

Oh I'm sorry, please do point that out to @Stevosevic who also used selective stats.

Three from open play since the first game is pretty poor. Shinji has scored more from open play .

But 5 from open play when you add one more match is not too bad (albeit not prolific) when you consider what his all round game brings to the team.

In the 5 years from the 96/97 season up to the season we were relegated our  top scorer in those 5 seasons which was considered a golden period in our history was 10, 10, 10, 13 & 9 ( the last akinbadbuy who I can’t remember being that good ) . We have to evolve as a football club and change our style as will other teams. We won the league for all of us to remember and most agree it was the perfect storm. All storms eventually blow themselves out and new ones start, let’s hope we can ruffle feathers again.

I'm gonna cry when he retires, ssuming he doesn't make a move elsewhere, which I doubt he will.

Even if he doesn't bang in a goal for the next 4 seasons it's going to be a very emotional retirement.

I'm sure he does as he always has but that doesn't mean other important parts of his skill set have gone off just lately.
