Fuchs or Chilwell?

  1. 1. Who should be our starting Left Back?

Well the Morgan/Drago debate was a success so onto the next. Christian Fuchs with his wealth of experience and incredible long throw or Ben Chilwell with his attacking flair, speed and ability to jump?

I expect this to be a closer poll as so many people seem to dislike Chilwell.

Personally I expect Chilwell to be the England WB in the 2022 world cup or immediately after it. Think the kid (21yo) has so much talent and potential, he just needs more seasoning and a little toughening up. A week's holiday with Wasyl, Benny and our assitant manager this summer should help out.

Chilwell is still very young. He looks like a confidence player. I have full confidence in his ability, even if he has had a bit of a tough month or so.

Fuchs makes as many mistakes as Chilwell and is only getting older now.

Fuchs at the moment. If I’m honest I’ve been a little disappointed with Chilwells defending at times in the little run he’s had in the starting 11. I know he’s still young and I’m sure there’s more to come from him so I’m not criticising him too much, but he’s probably not been as good as I had hoped so far.

We are safe (ish). We should be promoting the evolution to a new team…. That involves backing some of the youth…. He will make mistakes and I hope (with good coaching and support)  he’ll learn from them

He has demonstrated enough capability to warrant a run in the side and he’d get the nod if I were making this call

Got a feeling we'll buy a left-back in the summer and utilise Chilwell as a winger in the future.

Is Fuchs still leaving to go back to America this summer?

I really like Chilwell and think he gets far too much stick - yes he has his weaknesses but over time I'm confident these will be eradicated. He won't be perfect (no player we have is) but he will get better. Of course he's far more offensive than defensive but that's his game and that's the way he plays (hence the belief he'll be used as a left-winger/wing-back as opposed to a full-back like Simpson is on the right).

I'd stick with Fuchs for now. Got the attributes of getting forward to support Gray/Albrighton as well as being more defensively capable.

I guess it's good to have 2 decent options at our disposal!

One has been great in the past. One may well go on to become great in the future. But neither is great right now. Left-back concerns me significantly more than right back. That said, only one of them is going to get better. Either buy better, or give him the game time to, (hopefully), develop.

Haven't we had this thread before? Fuchs for the top half of the league, Chilwell for the bottom half. I'd rather Chilwell iron out his lapses against Stoke City than Man City.

Neither!

Sign Ryan Sessegnon.

i'd love this but he's destined to go to a top 6 club.

like when Alli was at MK Dons, the top 6 vultures were already circling before everyone else cottoned on.

Spurs are already talking with Fulham about a deal apparently.

Can`t say I like criticising any City player and I hate the "Boo boys" getting hold of one particular player, which, sadly looks like James at the minute.

However we all have our own opinions and mine would certainly be for Fuchs.

Hope I`m wrong but can see Chilwell  being another Shlupp...the  odd good game but in your heart you know he`s never going to be the real deal, a real trier but not good defensively ..........so Christian for me.

It's nothing to do with 'boo boys' or 'scapegoats', it's simply discussion about whether we can get a better player in.

If we can't criticise players then whats the point of a discussion forum.

Nicely misunderstood, well played.

maybe

but you can't say you don't like when someone else does something and then go and do that thing yourself.

Chilwell hasn't ripped up trees lately but Fuchs is finished at the top level. I wouldn't be averse to a new left back coming in but we have bigger priorities across the back line first.

Tbf I imagine it'll be a while before we play Forest again.
