Wasn’t boozing other than 1 Guinness but u think Manchester is underrated for it’s depth of proper pubs

Actually really hate Manchester. Very unattractive place with a slight air of menace about it. Mancunians have really memed themselves into believing it's some kind of great city when it'd be probably the worst place in almost any other European country.

But yes, some decent pubs.

Don't want to take this off topic, and I do agree to some extent, but it ain't always their fault...

Up in Leeds next weekend and reckon I find that the best major northern city for a day on the ale.

Leeds' centre ought to be better imo. Whitelock's is great but it's a bit disparate after that. Lots of M&B, Craft Union and the the girlies chains everywhere.

I dunno man - Pack Horse, Fenton, Duck and Drake, Bankers Cat, The Grove, Adelphi all superb "proper pubs."

Wapentake, Brew Society, Friends of Ham, Cross Keys, North, White Cloth Hall, Brunswick all great indies. Brewery Wharf just opened from Five Points / Whitelocks. Got the Victoria reopening on Friday as a joint venture from Five Points / Whitelocks and Kirkstall.

There are a lot of prosecco with the girls gaffs and sports bars that smell of frying, but I wouldn't say they dominate

Admittedly haven’t done half of those but I’ve always found it difficult to go from (good) pub to pub. No shortage of Represent clothing places in between though. I like the Bankers Cat but all new Thornbridge places looking the exact same detracts from the experience.

The Grove and Adelphi are super though. Perhaps it’s just let down by the lack of a good mass transit system, nothing feels that coherent to me. Maybe I should do a specific day out, think I’ve only ever been for a gig/football

Aha after posting that I thought I should clarify I mean the Pack Horse on Woodhouse Lane (great) and not the Pack Horse next door to Whitelocks (shite). Aha I sort of get it about the Thornbridge gaffs, Market Cat and Bankers look eerily similar but but I think they're quite different to the Colmore in Birmingham which I can't warm to at all.

Nice little spread out crawl forming west of the city with the Highland Laddie, Kirkstall Tap, Dave's Pies and The Cardigan Arms (and New George & Kirkstall Bridge Tavern if you venture further away). The Cardigan hands down my favourite in Leeds and it's immediate surroundings, its incredible I don't look like my avatar given the amount of time I spent in it.

Showing a few round Sheff pre Christmas and can't bloody wait for it

Currently on a Langton Widebeam best bitter I found at Bradley's in Quorn.

Really impressed with their range of Leicestershire beers. Only seen similar at Farndon Fields farm shop in Harborough. Anywhere else good for that?

Great shop Bradley's.

constant stock of Charnwood beers and varous wines and other beer you never see elsewhere.

I work not too far from St Bernard monastry in Whitwick and have a real soft spot for Tynt Meadow blonde.

Looking forward to an afternoon on the beers in Farringdon on Tuesday. What are your top 3 round there? Hoping to get to the Sutton Arms again. Craft Beer Co was decent last time too
