Some help with directions

Just asking for a bit of help. Myself and the Mrs are off to see Sam Smith at the 02 next weekend.

We are travelling by coach to Victoria (so much cheaper) and then we need to get from Victoria to Greenwich, where we are staying.

Whats the best way of doing this and if we do decide to take a cab...roughly how much.

Cheers guys!

get the tube mate.

Get the Circle or District line from Victoria to Westminster.

Then get the Jubilee line from Westminster to Canary Wharf. You'd then need to get the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) from Canary Wharf to Greenwich.

The O2 Arena is at North Greenwich station though. North Greenwich is just one stop along from Canary Wharf.

Tube should be cheaper as well as there's a daily cap (can't remember how much, think it's between £5-7).

Just checked and Zone 1-3 daily cap is £8 per person.

You only need a contactless card as well to tap in and out of the stations. Don't need an Oyster card.

A cab that far will cost a fortune.  Its only about half an hour to North Greenwich from Victoria, and I guess about 10 minutes longer to Greenwich on the DLR.

You could get an uber I suppose, but it would probably take longer.

Agree with @StanSP, the tube is absolutely your best bet, especially given the volume of people who will be arriving and departing the O2 simultaneously.

My tip would to be to try to get there a bit early, and use the opportunity to have a few looseners at one of the many bars & restaurants. And after the gig too, that way you avoid the rush.

Also, sadly, steer clear of the black cabs unless you want to pay £40 to go 500yds. Download Uber if you need to get somewhere miles away from a tube station.

Sorry, I have no answer for you but I am just marvelling at the wonderful people we have on here. You can literally ask any question and there's an answer. Before about a year ago - probably less - I didn't realise how awesome this community is.

If you fancy a more relaxing, scenic journey, how about a boat down the river to Greenwich?

Would cost more than the tube, but less than a taxi (£15 per person? Can't remember exactly).

Boats depart about every 15-30 mins from next to Westminster Bridge (Westminster tube - 2 stops from Victoria or a short walk).

They go downriver (30-min journey?) past Parliament, London Eye, South Bank, St. Paul's Cathedral, City, Tower of London, docks, Docklands etc - and Greenwich riverfront  is a pleasant area.

Most of the boats do some sort of commentary on the passing sites, history etc.

Don't go breaking my heart, Buce!  :(

When the Rocket Man gets back from China, I'll set him on you, or break wind on your candle or something.

Saturday night's alright for fighting, Buce, you and me, son!

If you’re just going to the gig then follow the above, if you’re doing a bit more sightseeing it’s worth downloading city mapper, will show you quickest and cheapest way to get somewhere in London. Great for understanding the buses which can often be quicker and cheaper than the tube for short journeys.

Only been to the o2 once, back in the autumn to see Nile Rodgers / Chic / Chaka Khan - what a great disco / party that was - and as everyone seems to suggest, the tube is the best bet. And I say that as someone who doesn't like London much or the tube.

You say that, and yet no one has said that the absolute best thing he can do is not go and see Sam Smith. They're just gonna let him go.

So not so nice really.

Do you have to practice at being nerdy, or does it just come natural like?

He’s only jealous like the rest of us who wish we were still loved up and going out on dates with our wives like you :(

Get the Thames Clipper from the Eye, Embankment or Westminster. Takes about an hour but theres a bar on board and its less than a tenner a throw, plus it's the scenic route.

Cheapest and easiest will always be the tube.
