It would be harsh to judge them on the back of this game but they never really seem to get it right. Liverpool have absolutely dominated them but you sense that'll happen to a few teams this season.

Think its mainly tactically naive to play a high line against Liverpool purely due to the way they play. But, like you said, difficult to judge based on a game against one of the best teams
AjcW Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Switching to 4 at the back when already 2-0 down... could be a second half blood bath

It’s the high line defending on the edge of penalty area that plays into their hands that I don’t get.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 West Ham with all this spending, new philosophy and management look as bad as they did last year. Appreciate Liverpool look awesome but they’ve shown nothing at all.

They've tried to play a 4231, and it's just becoming a 451 with way too much space between the CM and ST. And a high line against Liverpool is tactical suicide unless the offside trap is perfect

lcfcsnow Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 That was clearly offside without even needing a replay, shocking from the linesman
Guest Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 We need VAR. Without it the "big" teams get all the calls. Refs need the check on them. The media will simply ignore this again.
North Leeds Fox Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 If only there was a system to review poor decisions like that... ?
Jonezy Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Who voted against VAR in the Prem? I miss it already.....
TheUltimateWinner Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Could see that was off before the replay!
UniFox21 Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Once again, doesn't matter how you play, the officials can swing a game entirely with 1 or 2 bad decisions. Yet no punishment for them, and for the small teams its completely ignored
coolhandfox Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Hard enough against Liverpool without having a linemen against you!

AjcW Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 You do have to make your own luck sometimes mind. West Ham standing off and playing offside.... asking for trouble, they’ve been as poor as ever
UniFox21 Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Both of west hams midfielders down after being hit in the bollocks
