chapero82 Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 It hurts seeing Mahrez play for somebody else! It’s like putting myself through torture watching it

I had a long time to accept that Mahrez was leaving, he's gone to the best and we've made some decent signings with the money. I actually feel like I'm going to enjoy watching him and Walker down that side. They look lethal so far already.

Bryn Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Looks their most dangerous player so far. It is a good signing for them, the way he drifts inside against tight defences.
AKCJ Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Man City look the business. To think they still have players like De Bruyne, Jesus, Kompany and David Silva.
UniFox21 Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 "The Guardiola lose the ball and go back and get it mentality" No, that's simply called pressing, Pep didn't invent that. We did it in 15/16, Klopp's teams do it. It's not a Pep thing, stop brown nosing them, sky.
foxfanazer Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 It really doesn’t hurt at all seeing Mahrez play for them. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him score against this shite today
Vacamion Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Man City look light years ahead of Arsenal, here...
fazzyfox Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 I wonder if the visibility of incidents from the home bench is any better for the new guy, they never did resolve that for Arsene.
mozartfox Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Emery has actually made them worse. Mind you City look very good.
Guest Manini Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Pep has his work cut out with Mahrez and I think he knows it

fazzyfox Posted 12 August 2018 Posted 12 August 2018 Being of a certain age I'll be nick-naming Emery "Dick" (who was a kind of 1970's Harry Enfield).......so no change from his predecessor then!

He doesn't accept laziness or players switching off and drifting in and out of games. Look at Yaya at Barca and Man City, Hart as well. Mahrez is a very on and off player, rarely being consistent for the whole game

I think he wants him to play in a certain way and he isn’t quite there yet, he got frustrated with him at Wembley last week and he’s been lazy and strayed offside today as well. It’s similar to when he first got hold of Sterling, turned him in to a right player so god knows what can turn Riyad in to.

I get your point and he will take time to adjust to Pep's style but to say Pep has his work cut out in a wee dig at Mahrez is very odd. I would put money on Mahrez being a success. X

One Premier League game is probably a little early to judge, I reckon he will have a great season. X

X I agree with what you're saying, can also just see the reasoning behind the point made. Think it's more in regards to work rate and how he conducts himself tbh.

I agree he needs work it's just the "Pep has his work cut out" line sounded unreasonably harsh on Mahrez but maybe it's just semantics. X

X Not what I’m saying at all, I wasn’t having a dig at Mahrez, he wasn’t poor at Wembley either, and no he hasn’t been poor today - I’m just saying Pep has very exacting standards and he likes to be one step ahead and have all his players playing his way. I don’t think Mahrez is fully conversant in that yet, and it’s frustrating Pep. He will 100% be a success there I don’t think there’s a question mark about that.
