Pointless because you stated nothing worthwhile in your post and I was pointing that out.

Yes, stick a smiley after the sentence and we're all bound to think you're both smart and amusing, aren't we?

Your posting style often reminds me of it being similar to Thracian's, and the way you're coming across currently was how he reacted just before he threw his dummies out of the pram and refused to logon the forum ever since.

Before a rumour gets started, I can confirm with some confidence that Gerbold ain't Thracian.

Didn't a lot of posters here go on a tear when we lost Steve Walsh to Everton and blamed Rudin?  Most said it was Walsh who was the star in the football dept in recognizing talent.  well how did Walsh work out in everton?

The role of DOF has got to be the most undervalued and poorly respected role at a club.  Every fan thinks they could do the job and is judged with disdain.  He seems to be a  competent person in the role and the real people who matter those paying the bills, the owners must think he is very good at his job, so really that is all that matters.

arguing about the quality of players coming in and going out and for how much is where we should spend our time not slagging off the staff.  The owners get to decide who the staff are.

The best DOF, Chief Exec, owners are the ones you hear nothing about, the last 5 years have been pretty good.

Look at Villa, Sunderland, to see th effect of poor ones!

Well thankfully we don’t all agree with you we all see things different  and have things to say with the common  tract we all love this great club. I neither try to be like Thracian whatever that means I’m just trying to say there are too many people on here who ridiculously think they could do an amazing job as DOF at our club.

I wasn't replying to you.

Some of us "idiot" "dicks" try to think a little more deeply about what goes on at the club we support - in doing so avoiding making assumptions about what the owners think and what they would do - were they more football savvy.

Whelan gets very little stick (shitty or shitless) on this forum.

Rudkin is the man who takes responsibilty for successful/unsuccessful signings because he elected to place himself in the position he occupies. He knows the territory and knows what to expect should he give the nod to a particular player.

Personally, I think he's underperforming in the job, but I recognise that the success in the hiring of any player is down to multiple factors - not just footballing ability.

Yet another poster trying to get his (or her) digs in on the back of a contentious and rather pointless post.

Running a football club from a CEO and DOF point of view is generally a thankless task, particularly the latter. Everyone has their own opinion from the sausage in the hot dogs (useless by the way) to the next £45M transfer target. Recruitment can be and is difficult in any business, more so in football where there is a limited supply of talent that can operate in the top half of the arguably the most competitive league in the world and you can never be sure if they will be a success or not. I thought the OP had a good point and he's right about some of the brainless contributors on here but hey that's the beauty of the forum!  Everyone welcome..

I met Joe Mattock the other week he said Jon is a lovely bloke and helped him a lot at Leicester but he’s so far out of his depth as director of football at the club it’s unbelievable!

I wouldn't take note anything this lad says considering he doesn't know that you shouldn't go about slapping women

Wow, When did you develop this fountain of wisdom.?

Firstly, Whelan runs the company and does a dam good job of it. Other than controlling financial budgets, I doubt if she has anything to so with the Football side of things.

Rudkin heads up the Football side of things. He organizes the movement of players, yes he's made mistakes which I'm sure he's learned from. I doubt if he has much more than an opinion on targets and signings. We have people employed for that.

Person employed for that ? Yep Jon Rudkin !!

Funnily I thought Macia was head of recruitment. Rudkin just closes out the deals.

Funnily i know Eduardo Macia is head of scouts . He reports to  Jon Rudkin , who is the decision maker on targets etc . 100% .

So after winning the league we have spent over £100m on Slimani, Mendy, Musa, Iheanacho and Silva without significantly improving the first team and not strengthening the positions we desperately needed. Letting Kante and Drinkwater go either too cheap or too late. Throw in the 14 second cock up the mishandling of Mahrez in January and the press surrounding it. The constant fvck ups around ticketing, membership, the poor communication from the club and lack of real dialogue with the fans.

Credit where it is due our finances look amazing, despite throwing massive contracts at bir part players but our recruitment and managerial appointments since we won the league have been seriously questionable and those responsible deserve criticism.

For the last time, Kante had a release clause. And how did we mishandle the Mahrez saga - by not bending over for Man City and accepting a last day, below valuation bid?

For the last time, why did he have a release clause? A release clause that Chelsea were ineligible to activate as they were not a champions league side. When you let one of the best players in the world leave for the less than Liverpool paid for Andy Carroll someone somewhereis not doing their job properly.

When your best player goes on strike and you hang him out to dry in the press turning our own fans against him, again someone somewhere is not doing their job properly. There was no clear communication in the press about Mahrez and clearly the communication between Mahrez and the club had broken down. These things can always be prevented but we have developed an unfortunate habit of turning a mistake into a massive balls up.

Firstly, Kante wouldn't have signed here without the release clause. Second, Chelsea paid more than the release clause amount to secure Kante's services. If they hadn't, you can be sure a Champs League club somewhere would have activated the clause. There was no way Kante would have stayed regardless of what the club did.

Mahrez hung himself out to dry by not turning up to do the job he was paid to do.

Says who? Money talks give him an extra couple of million and I’m sure they could have come to an agreement. We gambled on Kante’s release clause and lost out in the long run. Fair enough they got the deal over the line and we won the league because of it. There is no reason to believe he wouldn’t have signed without one, they put release clauses in Vardy and Mahrez’s contracts too and who knows how many others. It feels like that was a negotiating tool selling the club as a stepping stone and not on the ambition of the club. It was not a smart move in hindsight and nearly cost us Vardy too and could have cost us Mahrez. On the subject of...

Mahrez was told one thing by the club, a gentleman’s agreement, about how much he would be allowed to leave for. I’m pretty sure this was communicated to Man City by Mahrez’s agent to get the deal done quickly.

Leicester didn’t play ball, fair enough, but they clearly didn't talk it through with Mahrez. He was frustrated but the club hung him out to dry in the press refusing to make an official statement and allowing the press to write what they wanted about him being a mercenary and petulant etc

They also left CP and the players in a difficult position as nobody knew what the club line was and they were being asked at the press conferences. That’s why you had Puel mumbling something about punishment. It was a difficult situation made a lot worse by poor handling from the club.
